What were you thinking? What was the guy who took the time to build this piece thinking? Looks like a good jump seat for the talkative back seat driving type mother out law. Seen 5/27/13 at Sheltered Cove Marina Tuckerton New Jersey. The bluefish were biting. Good diner at the Oyster Creek Inn. After Sandy's changes I would avoid tooling around in this area during low tide meaning Little Egg Inlet Great Bay. Shallow water alarm was working overtime.

I can't decide if its innovative and cool, or....

either way he probably had fun with the cutoff wheel and welder

I've seen very similiar with older VW "Squarebacks". Think of those old air cooled VW station wagons from the 60s & 70s...that's them. Cut off exactly the same and made into trailers. The only cool one I saw had a built in cooler installed up front and the rear hatch opened to expose a seating area for two people that faced back. Other than that, they are hack jobs IMO. Also seen a bug back half made into a BBQ grill...but that's another topic. 8)

Plus with that front end, the wind drag must be horrendous.

That would look great getting towed behind my favorite home-made RV

The only thing that would make that picture better is knowing it had surge brakes...

that home made rv had me laughing pretty hard..

sweet pic

Not the best for hauling firewood ,coal ,or anything like that. Guess it is just for the mother in law.

I thought the Jeep trailer was funny. The RV remake is in a class of it's own. I wonder where they get windshield wipers for that mongo windshield? Nice piece. :xseek

There's a little story behind that RV picture. When I was a graduate student in Tucson Az, my folks used to come and visit for a few months in the winter. They had a nice trailer and stayed in RV/Trailer park. It was a nice place with a full wood shop, a lapidary shop, tennis, etc. The folks always felt a little out of place there as their trailer was not near as nice as some of the more extravagant rigs in the place. After the first year of being there, my dad kept telling me I should get a trailer too and live in such a place. It was cheaper than rent, you'd own the trailer, etc. etc. This was a constant theme of our weekly phone calls. Of course, living in a trailer park with mostly seniors was the last thing I wanted to do at age 23-27.

One day while walking into work, this rig was parked on my route. I was there for many months so I took a photo. This kind of classic engineering is the kind of thing one only finds once or twice in one's lifetime. Then during the next several weeks, I told my dad that Joyce and I were seriously considering his idea of getting a trailer or RV and moving out to the same park he and mom stayed at. Then I told him we had our eye on a rig and were just working to get the finances together. Then I told he we had it all lined up and I wanted him to make a sign for me that said "The Bumgarner Kids". I wanted to put it on our new rig so everyone in the park would know we were with them. Then I sent him the photo of the above vehicle.

He never pestered me about getting an RV or trailer again.
