This is a reply to Roger from another thread.
Hi Roger, I have a good friend that has an exotic animal and cattle ranch in south central Washington that wanted to buy a pivot irrigated 160 acres to grow more of his own alfalfa. It was run down but had good water rights so he asked me if I would go over there and get the pivot rebuilt and in good working order if he did buy it, and I said yes. Well he bought it and I am over there and will be for the next couple of years or longer. This year I will take my stretched 16 over there and do some mid-Columbia and Snake River cruising. I will spend a little more time on the C-Brats and will probably post a little more often.
I had hoped to make the Seattle Boat Show get together but I am having some test done and may have to have a back and/or neck operation. It seems like they may be slightly broken, won’t know for sure until Friday. I thought it was arthritis at first but that has been ruled out. It has not slowed me down much but I do have to admit I do hurt and haven’t been able to sleep for more than two hours at a time in the last two years. To top that off I was going over The Dalles Mountain eight days ago from the main ranch to the pivot and was unable to stop when I started down the north slope. I was going between ten and fifteen miles per hour when I crested the mountain and when I touched the breaks the truck went into a slide and continued to pick up speed sliding on the ice until it went off the road and rolled. That didn’t help the neck and back.
I am still OK just a little sorer than before but a back brace helps the leg and back pain but not the neck and shoulders. Right now I am at my place in Rochester waiting for more test on Friday then heading back to the pivot and then the main ranch to help with the calving.
Sounds like I missed a good get together at the Silver Cloud and Taproom. I really hope I have time for the Friday Harbor get together.
