I just purchased a 1985 16ft angler it seems to be in good condition. My question is when standing on the deck facing the motor there isnt a center deck well where a bielge pump might go. On both sides of the back bottom its has a small indentation and a drain plug on both sides. Was this how they were built and if so how does one place a bielge pump? Hope someone can help.

centered at the bottom of the boat just in front of the transom is the standard place for most boats. You can't plan on a bilge pump keeping the boat dry. It wont get the last of water unless it sits in a recess and many if not most trailerables don't have such a recess. I assume on any of my boats that the bilge pump is there to take care of "significant" water. My 22 has a "bilge pump well" so it pretty much sucks up the water so you don't see it sloshing around. But, that is unusual for most small boats, specially a 16 of any make.
