I am looking for ideas on how people have rigged live bait tanks on there dorys? I dont really want to give up any of the cockpit as it is but am looking for a tank that can handle a scoop or two of live bait for the stops. anyone out there have any tips or set ups that have worked good?

c-hawk

exactly what I am looking for. Is this tank removable when not tuna fishing? and who is the maker of said tank. thanks for the pic and info. and no cockpit given up!

The tank is a Kodiak ProFlo 17 gal. I had the stainless mount custom made to be able to remove, I just left it on all the time.
I need to make another set-up for C-Hawk- probably using the 13 gal model.

Nice set-up Roger. Another route is a bait bag. Collapsible, take it off if you don't need it. I have one for the TomCat http://livebaitlarry.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=23

The bags are nice, also--- but--- I will NEVER buy anything from Live Bait Larry again. I bought the Kodiak bait tank from LBL and the pump he supplied quit working (lost a scoop of bait) on the second or third trip. When I notified him, he claimed it was my fault and refused to replace the pump. after a couple of months of several phone calls, he delivered a pump to my door--- wrong pump and a much cheaper model. Ron (Islander) had the same trouble with LBL. I've heard of others in my area that had the same results.

Roger King (former LBL custumer)

I use a 24 gallon circular barrel approximately 24" in diameter and 36" high with a plexi lid. It has a circulating pump with a venturi oxygenator. I have it bungied to the transom and when the bait is gone, it turns into a bleed tank. The barrel is made of heavy duty poly material and the pump from walmart. If you search for the materials, one can be made at a fraction of the cost of tanks ordered online. Be sure to use round or oval tanks.

Holoholo-

Do you have any photos? Plans? This would make a great fun project for a lot of C-Brats!

Thanks!
