Just finished changing oil in my motors (100hp Yam and 9.9 Yam) along with gearcases - gotta love the smell of gear oil! My question: where is the oil filter on a 2004 Yamaha 9.9. The manual says it is in the "built into the oil pan".
The element on a 2004 and earlier F9.9 is located on the strb side of the engine. It is actually a drop in element and not a spin on element as the 2005 and newer F9.9s-F15's are.
Its kind of hard to explain its location. Not sure how to post pics here so email me at parts@shipyardisland.com and I will reply to that with a attached pic.
