Hi C-Brats

We have a little update on our C-Dory-22 NWT/Canada Expedition 2007.

We wont take the boat out in Inuvik. :thup :thup

We will go from Tuktuyaktuk (on the arctic coast) back up the Mackenzie to Hay River
on the Great Slave Lake and take out there and drive from there back to the US. :D

That will make our trip mutch longer, miles wise...(on the WATER...) :)

Fun for me, I like it mutch more to go up the Mackenzie than drive the boat behind a truck back
from Inuvik to the US via land... :thup :thup

... just 14 day,s and we are on the way.......................

Hi

hey, at least a view people are interested in our journey... :thup

@ Ron

The last 5 years the Athabaska was open at F. Mc Murray in between the 15-25 of April.

We have to be there before the breakup, because we have to film that :D

@Byrdman

I don't know if I will post on this website, because the interest in our expedition is not really there, witch I understand!

And I don't know if I have the time to post things on 2 websites on the way...

But I will post pictures and infos on my website... :D

Thanks to all the C-Brats People for the help and ideas :thup :thup

Regards Chris

Chris,

I think alot of us are following your progress, but we know so little about the type of exploration you are doing, that we don't have much to say....

I enjoyed looking at the photos of all your work and preparation.

Best of luck on your exciting adventure!

John

Also, Chris,

If you look at the breakdown topics list, you've had 189 ppl read this topic since Tuesday... so 189 ppl in 24 hours!!! That's pretty good interest!

John

Chris - don't assume lack of interest from lack of posts! I have been following this, just have not had anything to add! But we definitely want to progress reports if you can make the time...Thanks!

Hi Chris, I was in Fort McMuck 20 yrs ago and it was verging on being a ghost town. How times change!!!! I also recall being in Inuvik one time on 1 Apr and the temp was -30. Another summer in Inuvik I had the opportunity to chat with a busload of German tourists (they had the bus shipped to Canada) who had driven the Dempster Hwy. Even though I flew to these locations I shall be very interested in and following your river journey.

To be able to follow an expedition to a part of the world I will never see in persom.....PRICELESS!!.
If you cannot report on this forum, perhaps our administrators could provide us with a link to yours

Hi C-Brats

Hmm, sorry that I thought there would be no interest..

I will try to update both websites, but I don't know jet how mutch online time I have on the way :?:

The 2 x 45min Movies about our expedition will be ready in Feb. 2008.

As it look right now we will do the Films in NTSC and english too :D

Sorry again Brats...

Chris – thank you for reconsidering. I use to read every post on this site but am unable to anymore because of the shear volume of them. Now I pick and choose which threads to read and yours has always been one that I always read. I do not always post a reply to yours because others have already covered the comments or questions I wanted to ask.

I know you have a big following on this site. As Dr. John pointed out, look at the number of people that have read this thread in less than 24 hrs. (approaching 250) and that is during the middle of the week.

Chris

We towed a small RIB on a boat trailer up and down the Dempster and the Canol Road from Ross River in the Yukon to the Northwest Territory Border where the road ends. Explored some rivers and lakes on the way. Many flat tires on trailer and tow vehicle. Would not want to tow our c-dory down the dempster. When we were making plans to do the Mackenzie we had planned on going back up river like you are now even though the drive is incredible too. I believe if you have the time you're doing the right thing.

The reason we checked out the canol road from Ross River to the Northwest Territory was to check if we could go from the end of the canol road to Norman Wells on the Mackenzie by ATV. Anyone interested in seeing what this would have involved check a map of this area.

There was no need for the red faced emoticons for your wondering whether very many people are really interested in the details of a real adventure. I have never stated this but have in the past felt the same as you. And I don't mean to put us in a class with you. Very few dream your dreams and even fewer fulfill them. Still don't know for sure the answer to how much interest there is in this group to what we would call real adventure, but do know that the ones that are interested like us are really interested in all aspects of this adventure and really appreciate you sharing any part of it with us. If it turns out not possible due to time or other considerations to post on this site please share at least some of it in English on yours.

What you are planning to do with a c-dory boat is truly incredible and recognised as such by us.

Jay

As I mentioned to you a few months ago I am following your activities whenever you post. Thanks for doing it. I am always interested in that part of the world and that kind of adventure.

Dave

Hey Chris,

Crazy Frazey here...spent many a days traveling up and down the Alaska/Canada highway from Bozeman, Montana to Homer, Alaska (which I loved and enjoy the memories) so I have been very interested in your web site and the progress of your current trip along with viewing dang near every page/photo of your web site a while back.

To keep it easy for you while on your trip even if you post here stating "I have loaded new stuff on my web site" we can always hop over there and see what you have added.

Hope you have an excellent trip with the C-Dory which I know you will love!!!

Safe Boating,

John :smiled

We are ready with our filming here and ready to leave Fort Mc Murray tomorrow :thup

If it wont rain tomorrow we will set ORCA in the Athabaska at Fort Mc Kay.

I will spend there about 3-4 days to wait until Dan is back from Hay River where he will drive up to park our Truck and Trailer til October...

I don't know when I can update my website the next time :cry

I think I wont be able to update on both websites, but I will tell you when there is a new update on my website http://www.long-expeditions.com/585908/home.html
From now on it will be in english and german :D

Well, cross your fingers that we will make it...

Thanks for all your support and I hope you all have a great Summer

Regards from Fort Mc Murray
