OK, Nor'westing mag has a little section on yacht club events, and invites folks to fax in their cruise schedule, so I sent in the CB Yacht Club Cruise Schedule - here is a cut and paste:

C-BRATS 2006 CRUISE SCHEDULE

The C-BRATS, with approximately 1,450 members and growing, are a "yacht club" with no commodore, meetings or dues - we are a loose association of owners, wanna-be owners and admirers of C-Dory boats linked through a web site. The C-BRATS enjoy one of the most active boating sites on the web - www.c-brats.com. - which is a non-commercial site with no official connection to C-Dory Marine Group. The C-BRAT site is operated by C-Dory fans for C-Dory fans. CBGTs (C-BRAT Get-Togethers) are organized by members, and posted on the web site, with a sign-up sheet for each gathering. Most CBGTs are Friday night through Sunday morning, although several are longer. Our year culminates (or commences, depending on your point of view!) in the SBS / CBC (Seattle Boat Show / C-BRAT Convention) in January of each year. During SBS / CBC C-Dory fans from most states in the Union and a few foreign countries congregate at a Seattle area hotel for a party, attend the boat show and visit the Holy Grail of C-Dory-dom, the C-Dory factory in Auburn, WA. We welcome people interested in C-Dorys to attend any of the CBGTs. Please go to the web site and sign up! The schedule to date:

  • Feb 16 - 20 San Diego, CA
    Mar 10 - 12 Poulsbo, WA
    Apr 5 - 15 Lake Powell, UT
    Apr 15 - 16 Cathlamet, WA
    May 5 - 7 Lopez Island, WA
May 17 - 20 Delta / Bay, San Francisco, CA
    May 26 - 29 Princess Louisa, BC
    Jun 2 - 4 Lankford Bay, MD
Jun 10 - ??? WA to Ketchikan via Inside Passage
Jul 1 - 4 Prince William Sound, AK
    Aug 20 - 26 Catalina, CA
Sep 30 - Oct 2 Sequim Bay, WA
    Oct 13 - 15 Santa Barbara, CA
Jan 2007 Seattle Boat Show / C-BRAT Convention

Pat-

Keep up the good work! I'm glad to see your quality promotion of our cause!

I'd reccomend looking beyond that publication to others, but our growth is fast enough as it is, and I'd be afraid of seeing the make up of this group changing in an uncontrollable way.

As it is, our "just be nice" policy has worked with only one notable exception, and the membership here all seems genuinely interested in being helpful and considerate in discussing boating matters which, ffor the most part is focused on our C-Dory boats, and is done with a mixture of owners, want-to-be owners, and some considerate others.

Our friendly and thoughtful membership stands in contrast to some other groups, where most of the members struggle with exchanging good information while a mixed bag of characters carry on negative campaigns against certain brands of boats, motors, hull designs, political causes, and other divisive issues.

We've got a very successful group here, one that is refreshing to others who have had to suffer through antics like those above.

A slow and reasonable growth rate is a good thing, and is a intergal part of maintaining the quality of this site, adding new and positive members all the time. We appreciate your contribution very much, Pat!

Joe.

Yesterday, I stopped in at West Marine and picked up the recent Nor'westing Magazine (2/21 - 3/21/2007).

On page 82 there is an article entitled C-Dory Customer Appreciation Party. The story and photos are by Jim Wood.

'Tis a good article with 7 photos.

Patti and Barry,
That posting of Pats was in March of 2006. I just resurrected the Nor'westing thread to update the news on the latest 2007 issue.

If anyone thinks those dates for the gatherings are for 2007, be aware those are for last year....(2006).

Sorry, if using this old thread becomes confusing.

Indeed - I would have sent in a 2007 CBGT calendar to Nor'westing, but I just didn't see one materializing. It was too late in January for the March Poulsbo gathering, all I know is on tap for sure is the Bellingham CBGT / Gulf Island cruise... you would need to send in about now for that one, other than the possible Sequim CBGT (please tell me there IS one, Jon!), one event a calendar doe not make! I talked a bit with Jim Wood at the party, and they really want group event calendars...

SMALL WORLD!

I'VE GOT ONE OF THOSE PENNANTS!

Came from the second C-DOG site, the one Ken McCullough operated for several years after Dale retired.

It has a "BURGEES.COM" label sewn into the front edge.

I think we can locate the source, and perhaps order some, if anyone's interested.

Remember Ken? Lived near Albaquerque, N.M., and had a CD-22 named the Vivian-C, and spent time on Elephant Butte Resevoir in southern N.M. Was a fun and thoughtful moderator, but gave up the C-Dog site after so much of the traffic transferred over here. Would be nice to know how he's doing. He made quite a few connections for monogramed shirts, decals, and the like through a relative in that type of business. Posted here quite a bit at first, too!

Traded the CD-22 back in on a Miata.

LINK to order. Minimum order: 25. Cost from $11-$18, depending on difficulty of embroidery. Figure $15-$20 with shipping.

(This is a generic representation burgee, doesn't matter that it's from another group or a few years ago!) No Worries!

Joe.

Joe-sign me up for one C-Brat pennant. By the way, just last week I heard my 16 footer referred to as 'the Miata of boating'. Perhaps the Miata is the C-Dory of autos...........

I met Ken when I picked up my boat at Elephant Butte (from Butch -- Hi Butch!). Seemed like a very nice person in person, as most are, despite what you read on the Internet about me.

Sign me up for two pennants if we're trying to make numbers for a pennant order.
