Newbie dealer in NJ!

Hello, everyone! I work for G. Winter's Sailing Center here in beautiful south Jersey. We have a C-Dory store in Point Pleasant and Riverside (the left and right "coasts" of NJ) We are eagerly waiting to launch the "fleet" and see what they do. From what I've read, it's going to be a fun trip! First thing I'm going to do is to make sure every boat we get has trimtabs.... can anyone suggest other options we should have??

Welcome Lee C,

If you are talking about the 22 I would not get the ice chest. Have the storage cabinet installed instead. A good ice chest in the cockpit is a much better choice for food/beverage storage

I believe the center opening window is now standard.

The convertable port seat is a must.

I had/have trim tabs on both the 22 and 25 and they are a great help in keeping the boat trimmed.

welcome aboard c lee
you've picked a fine vessel to sell and service, and has a cult like following.
these fiberglass boats are no different than any other when it comes to blistering, therefore i would recommend to your customer that they have the hull epoxy coated followed with bottom paint.
if they decline to do so, get their signature and hope for the best. boats left in fresh water for periods of 30 days or longer have experienced blistering.
best regards
pat

Lee- I recommend that on every 16 footer you put a Permatrim hydrofoil. They cost about $100 and make a dramatic difference. You can read many postings about it on this site. I used to keep a boat at Clarks Landing and, although not a sail boat owner, I am aware of your excellent reputation. I know that your relationship with C-Dory and the C-Brats will be mutually productive and satisfying. A hearty welcome. :peace:

Cool! Go Scarlet Knights!!!! (Rutgers-Camden Law, 1975!). I agree on the trim tabs and the Barber Chair (reversing forward passenger seat, named after Mike Barber, the inventor, AKA Tyboo, your host on this site) for every boat, but assuming you can install all the options, I would let the buyer pick them - Wallas, windlass, radar arch, electronics, camperback (get a relationship with a great canvas shop if you don't already have one, sooner or later everyone realizes the utility of the camperback whatever the climate). One of the neatest things about C-Dorys is not how they come from the factory (an entirely separate topic at this moment) but more what the individual owners do to mold the boat to fit their vision of the perfect pocket cruiser...Check out the thread "Enclosed Head in CD 22" for a guy taking that to the extreme! Be sure to steer all your potential customers here, there is no other boat brand with a built in sales force like the C-Brats!

Welcome aboard..... lived in Point Pleasant most of my life til I moved to Florida. Had a home on Beaverdam Creek. Year before last we hauled our 22 C Dory up to Jersey following the Chesapeake Gathering, but found launching ramps few and far between. Finally got launched at the old Sherman's Marina on Princeton Ave and fortunately still had friends in Point & Brick where we could dock and store our trailer. Were it not for that, our visit would have been cut short!

We're visiting Jersey again this year following the Chesapeake Gathering, but without the boat. Where are you located, and we'll come and visit.

Lots of luck with your new dealership

Welcome Aboard Lee!! Saw and drove past many a fine looking water area in NJ...but never spent the 1st day on the waters...so, it is in my plans to make it back up that way...

At the same time, rig up one of your boats and drive on down south end of the month and join us for the 3rd C-Brat gathering on the Cumberland River!! A great way to see/hear and talk what others have done, some good, some great...and ....some simply just should have stayed ideas...or drawings on the kitchen table...

Welcome again, come on down.

Lee C – welcome aboard.

Glad to have you as a new member of this great site. I will second Marty’s comment about the Permatrim for the 16 footers.

You probably do not want to do this, but for the buyer of the 16-foot cruiser, they can check my photo album and in the boat projects album is an inexpensive and easy to put a rode/chain locker in the bow of the boat.

Wecome aboard Lee,

In ordering the 22, I would definitely recommend gping with the high top option, which increases headroom from 6'3" to 6'6".

I needed the headroom due to my height, but many who comes aboard who own a standard top comment on the roomy and spacious feel created by the xtra headroom.

Welcome Lee,
I live in Bordentown, NJ and use my 25 on Barnegat Bay. Very glad to have a dealer so close to home and will be nice to see more C-Dorys on the East Coast and in NJ particularly. I'll be down to see you.
Bill
