New versus used?

If it were me, even if I could afford to buy new I would look for an older (90's) hull with a newer fuel injected engine. For me that's the best of not both, but all three, worlds: Great hull, modern engine, and saving money. . But, that's just me..

60-70 days for a new build is pretty fast this time of year - are you getting one that your dealer already had in the production queue? Brock's new venture just took about double that number (~140 days from order to delivery). My 22 was about 60-70 days like yours, but it was already slated to start production that same week I placed the order, which saved a couple of months of waiting. Guess it all depends on how many orders they have lined up!

Congrats, and now you get to enjoy the next 2 months of eager anticipation and waiting!

We are second in line for production . Ryan is awesome at Sportcraft. No pressure he just wants you as a consumer to get what is right. He was able to negotiate us in the line before another order of 3 boats for a dealer.

Steve it was indeed a pleasure I look forward to getting to know many brats over the many years this boat will serve us.

I will say this community is what made me pull the trigger.

Looks like the thread is pretty well closed out, but I figured I would contribute my $.02.

I went used mainly for budget reasons, but also because boating is a hobby. I picked up a steal of a boat and am counting on 2 years to get it where I want her.

That said if you buy used you need to consider what you're getting into. Here's a partial listing I have running. It gives a small feel for what needs fixing and a running total. The boat is 15 years old, but looks about 4 years old. That said, hoses dry rot, heat takes a toll, and well..."things happen".

All that said I would buy used again - boats depreciate too fast for my wallet.

Now...I did take the difference in $ for the boat and bought a newish 2016 Tundra 5.7. Great truck so far 11K miles.

I think it all comes down to some factors:

1. Do you intend to keep the boat a long time?

2. Does a warranty matter to you?

3. Are you happiest on the water?

4. Can you afford a new boat and or a used one and the maintenance and upkeep - if not don't buy either.

5. Do you know what you want out of a boat or is it a stepping stone to a larger boat i.e. 5 footitis.

6. Do you take care of your stuff.

For me the answer is yes to all the above and I want to enjoy this boat and the adventures I plan to have for a long time to come. It's a personal choice but this morning I woke up without a shred of regret for me this was the right choice.
