New TomCat 25

Glad you had a great time. Sometime when I get down that away, I'd love to see the boat on the water. Now that she's launched, it's time to change you profile from "Dive Cat when launched" to just "Dive Cat". Congrats on a great boat.

Very nice boat Bob (or would that be a "ship"...hmmm). Thanks for the invite and food and great meeting you and your wife. It certainly looks like you've put a lot of research in every addition, they're all very well done -- and I'm sure Les had something to do with that also. Hope you have many years of great boating in this beautiful area we have here in So Cal, looking forward to some island trips with you.

Hey! I looked at you album, expecting to see Christening party pix! What gives?? You HAVE to get more post-factory pix into your album pronto!! And then lots of real world pix would be appreciated too!!

Hi, Guys and Gals

Great Christening Party!!!! Thank you for participating. We threw champayne all over the boat with the last group standing, christening her "Dive Cat" and not slurring a single sylable . . . I think.

What a wonderful day, the culmination of 14 months from order. And thank you, again, so much for participating!!!

Bob,
Thanks for inviting us down.
It was great to meet with you and your wife. That is one sweet ride. Looking forward to seeing it on the run sometime.
Let me tell C-Brats something------ This was one excited Cat in a Tomcat named Divecat.

Congratulations Bob

I don't know Bob.... but I really think you now need a hot dog rotisserie on board... seems like you have it about perfect for diving now... I have been on loads of dive boats...yers is way-cool. Maybe on the off-season you should open a dive shop and teach lessons off the boat..

I am anxious to follow yer bag reports... lets see...4 divers at 7 (limit ?) lobsters per ??? Wow !!

Nice to meet up with you and hope to see you on some of the events...

Thanks for posting your pics, Steve. We got a little overwhelmed and neglected to take many of our own!

Got Dive Cat out of the water and onto the trailer today, without the winch and bow roller, which have been sent to EZLoader for examination. Had a nice chat with the engineering folks in Spokane and am happy to report they seem commited to the resolution of the trailer issues.

Meanwhile, it took us two tries to get her up on the trailer correctly without the winch and stop. As it is, I like to power up as long as someone is on the brakes. And it looks like the trailer is in a better position farther up the ramp. Then the bow rail goes over the top of the ladder on the trailer. I think if we had the Betensen Goal Post modification, the HD strap assy from EZLoader, and the sweet spot to clear the rails, we might be okay, at least on this ramp.

More R&D required. This process is probably worth a video.

Bob,

I appreciate you're work with the EZ Loader factory on the trailer issues. Just hope they will make any changes retroactive to all of us who have TC255's. We all have the same problems, unless the boat's moored full time.

Hey Mike, Bob, anybody, help! How do I go about getting all those pics of Bob's Dive Cat off my boat's photo album -- I'm beginning to think my boat's a TC255!

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

Delete your TomCat pics and email to me for re-posting. That's all I know to do.

Meanwhile, Katy and I have decided to spend the day on the boat tomorrow, but in the slip. Gale warning with seas outside the bay building to 15-20 over the next 24 hrs. The compressor exhaust is almost finished. Maybe I'll jump over the side and massage the bottom for awhile. Friday appointment to see if we can remedy the charger/inverter.

With this new storm blowing through over the next few days, it doesn't look good for lobsters. In addition, they generally start moving to deeper water late in the season. I may have to do my hunting at Costco. $19.00/lb.

Told the BS&S class about Starcraft's Big Adventure last night. A lot of quiet, considered thought followed. Excellent training aid!

Bob,

Congratulations on a beautiful new boat. I just missed the christening on Saturday, but in driving past MDR, I gave a salute. By the way, that uniform you are wearing.......part CGAUX & part Lawrence of Arabia?

One step forward, and one step back.

Solved the inverter problem today by reattaching the negative cable to the Group 31 house batts. It had been removed and left off at the factory stop on the way home. No problem, and I figured it out all by my little self! Now, everything works!

Except my compressor . . . I installed the hotshot stainless exhaust tube connected to the really neat hull penetration covered with the NASA insulating wrap. The wrapping got so hot I couldn't touch it. The tubing discolored to that kind of rainbow pattern you see on Harley chrome exhaust headers. You could see the heat waves boiling off the system. It gets really, really hot. Even the isolated main flange at the hull was too hot to touch. And there are gas fuel lines back in there. I shut it down after about 15 minutes and stood by with a fire extinguisher for 30 more. Keep in mind it has to run for 45 minutes or so to fill 6 tanks.

A fan won't do a thing. This is some serious heat. What about a water jacket of some kind. Looking for some of that famous C-Brat opinion/experience/engineering input desperately.

What to do, what to do?

Hey Bob,

Tried sending you a couple of Private Messages, both seem stuck in my "outbox", not sure why. But I need your email address in order to send the pics to you, your address is hidden and PM's won't do attachments. Thanks.

How's the boat coming along?

Steve

Boris, CADiver and Merv,

Hope you got the invite: 4 March, 1 pm, MDR. Check back for details tomorrow or Tuesday. Gourmet hot dogs (really) and Costco potato salad will leave not educated palate untainted!

Dang ... I knew I would miss this opportunity. I changed my email address a few months back and didn't update anything here. And we purchased some property which really sets back the possibility of buying a TC255 anytime soon.

I'd still like to check it out one day - perhaps you can let me know next time you head out. Hope you can get the overheating issues figured out, I'm not familiar enough with it to offer sound advice other than insulating the box and pushing a lot of air through the box. Good luck!

And thanks for sharing the pictures, the TC255 is a beautiful boat which I'm sure will treat you guys well. Also ... is the dive ladder on Dive Cat yet? I'd like to see it installed - got any pictures?

So sorry I didn't see this. But I did take the time to look over your album while checking to see if the TC pics were still there. You folks sure seem to enjoy your boat.

PMs will stay in the sender's Outbox until the recipient opens his Inbox. I like to have the setting in my profile fixed so I get a popup notification of new PMs. Of course, the browser has to be set to allow popups, but the only ones you'll get here are PMs.

Still sorry I didn't get here in time to move the pictures for you.

Bob,

Have you thought about putting a radiator on the compressor? I would imagine that with a pump you could easily circulate the scaldingly hot oil through a radiator and cool it down significantly before returning it to the compressor. Not sure if this would work or not but its a thought.

We had to fly to Anchorage today for a medical appt, and while there stopped at AK Mining & Diving to check out the boats. They have a Tomcat there with 150 Hondas...WOW, what a boat! The cabin is positively huge...great looking boat. We were told that this year the Armstrong brackets are a one-piece affair with integrated swim step between the engines. Very nice platform.

We crawled all over the two 22 Cruisers there, too..."recon" Donna had never actually set foot in one...she loved it.
