New Sun Shade

HI folks I have a 16' Angler and want to have some shade in aft section so I came across this site, Extend a Top, seems to be what I want I need to adjust it for a taller person, me 6'5", but I think it will work, I like to fish and a bimini top with its poles are in my way.

Like to know what everyone thinks about this new shade. cost $595.

That top is a heck of an idea. I'll look into it. I'm looking to build or buy something for a rain cover and maybe put side curtains on. Thanks for the info.

Nice idea! Extends the top for shade w/o the interference of poles that interfere with fishing or entry to / egress from the boat.

How strong is it? Stainless or aluminum tubes? Does the canvas roll up manually or on a spring powered roller like a window shade? Would it have to be lowered in strong winds or overnight?

Is there room to mount it on a C-Dory below and behind the cabin top, as it must be, and still clear people's heads?

What do you anticipate the cost to be? DIY installation?

Those were my thoughts too. I can see where this would be a very nice addition. It would give you some shade without having the extra poles on the gunnels.

Cool-

I've been looking for something to cover the cockpit of my 16 footer without the obtrusive aft corner posts found on most bimini's and camper backs. In fact, I have a few pages of rough sketches of my own in my notebook. This is pretty much the kind of unit I'm looking for. Hmmmm..... I wonder if the sides could be fitted with light parachute material or even just mesh to keep the bugs out whilst I nap?

Very interesting!! Still topless on the back of the TomCat. Also, looking for site with those "sun screens" on them for the front windows... Was on a boat in CA that had snap on screens. I understand you can even get them in differant strengths/colors... Sure would be nice to cut out/reflect some of the heat coming into the front windows of the angled front of the Cat.
