NEW NAME ?

TOGO

New member
I renamed her.
When I bought my C-Dory she was named Rabbit's Hutch and had 7.5 hours on her. I considered naming her Rover but really did not like the name.Also I never attached the name to the boat. I think I can say she was never named Rover.
I am ordering graphics with the name TOGO. But I already have a boat named TOGO my 19 ft Bartender which is for sale and I will remove the name before I sell her.

THE QUESTION IS HAVE I OFFENDED THE SEA GODS IN THIS RENAMING?

Why TOGO She is being named for the Dog not the country. I love huskies and ski with them. TOGO is easy to spell only 4 letters and two of those are the same. Who is TOGO
Togo (dog)

Togo (October 1913 – December 5, 1929) was the sled dog who led Leonhard Seppala and his dog sled team as they covered the longest distance in the 1925 relay of diphtheria antitoxin from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska, to combat an outbreak of the disease. The run is commemorated by the annual Iditarod dog sled race.[citation needed]

Togo was a Siberian Husky, and named after Heihachiro Togo, the Japanese Admiral during the Russo-Japanese War.[citation needed] His coat was black, brown, and gray, and he weighed about 48 pounds (22 kg). He was the son of Suggen, Seppala's lead dog during the 1914 All-Alaska Sweepstakes, and was a precocious leader. At the time of the serum run Togo was twelve years old.

If this is wrong let me know how I can get on the right side of the Sea Gods and/or Sea Brats.
Where is a good place to get the C-Dory emblem they have been removed.

No problem in renaming with either the "Sea Gods" or the C-Brats.

To find the "Boat Denaming Ceremony" look at the header on this page and click on "Forums" then cursor down the page into the "Library" section until you see "Documents"...(click on "Documents") then go to the second page of "Documents" and near the bottom of the page you will see "Boat Denaming Ceremony", click on that and you can down load the ceremony script.
Also notice that just beneath the "Boat Denaming Ceremony" you can find the "Boat Christening Ceremony".

Hope this is a help to you.

Hey buddy, you are already here, so you're on the right side of the C-Brats. (Just be nice), Glad to have you.

As to the C-Dory emblem, logo, decal etc. My best bet, contact Scott at teh factory, (Triton Marine -- home page here, bottom left corner.) He is pretty responsive and helpful. My boat came without any logo, and a couple of manufacturers back I called, and the sent them out. Put them on the same time I put the name on.

Here's a link to the album with the process pretty well documented;

John Vigor, the author of these ceremonys Dave refers to, bought the Santana 22 sloop, Zephyr, mentioned in the denaming ceremony from us some years ago.

Thank you for your wisdom. I have contacted Scott about the C-Dory decals. I am going to the storage shed and dename her and install the new name. Will probably wire in the VHF waiting for the shed to warm up enough to apply the Graphics.

I wish I knew about the denaming ceremony with our last boat. It was Daisy before being renamed The Sea Beagle! That boat broke down every day that we took it out. We always traveled upriver first so we could drift back down if necessary. When we finally finished restoring it, we sold it.

Finally christened Sea-Cruz. I was going with C-Cruz but several people(non-brats) did not get it and the wife said go with Sea. So there we are.

I went to Wikipedia for a ceremony and came up with this Babylonia one from the 3rd milllennium:

Openings to the water I stopped;
I searched for cracks and the wanting parts I fixed:
Three sari of bitumen I poured over the outside;
To the gods I caused oxen to be sacrificed.

Santa Cruz Harbor office said absolutely no oxen could be sacrificed so I just said I christen thee "Sea Cruz" three times....
