New name

We finally came up with a name for our C-Dory. "Lochsa", pronounced "lock-saw". It is a north central Idaho river headwatered in the Selway-Bitteroot Wilderness that drains into the Clearwater River/Snake River, then the Columbia). The Native American meaning, (both Flathead and Nezperce according to Wikipedia) is "rough water". Not that we intend to put it in rough water yet and certainly not the Lochsa River which is serious rough water.

The Lochsa is also a refugee of Florida. We plan to put it in the Snake River this coming week where temps are predicted to be near 80 deg.

Ken n Harriet,

I think it is great that you found a name that has meaning for you. Not everyone names a boat, but it seems like C-Brats have a passion for it. Maybe because they look at their boats as more then just fiberglass and metal, but as a trusted friend.

I sold my C-Dory a few years ago and bought an aluminum boat. I really wanted to name the new boat "Sea Hag," but the Mrs. put a damper on that quick! So, having little kids we settled on "Pingu," which is the name of a claymation cartoon penguin we all love, although Steve from Capital-Sea claims it is the sound you hear when you hit the side of my boat, and Pat Anderson claims it is Inuit for "Beer Can Boat." All in good fun.

Here's to many years and many adventures on Lochsa! :beer
