New home for "Reel Knotty"!

I have been looking at C-Dorys and this site for quite awhile. Well, we purchased the boat from Port Boat House and got her home last week. Unfortunately, the weather has turned nasty, but I can still look at her and dream about the trips to come! I can also spend the winter tinkering about and adding our personal touches. Our neighbours are jealous and after looking around the boat, now they want one too!

We have another "brat" couple who live only minutes away...so we are in good company!

Cheers all!

Amphion,

Welcome to the C-Brats, C-Dorydoms living room on the web. Congratulations on the new boat and on having neighbours with good sense. It's a good boat and this is a good place. Enjoy.

Great to see more c dorys in BC! Great place to be located. Get ready for the season. Kerri On is ready to depart for points south. Enjoy and welcome. May pop in to PR in May for cruise see you then. Have family there. George :thup

Welcome to C-Dory world. Great to find more Brats on Vancouver Island. I live just down the road in Comox. My daughter and her family live in Campbell River, so I visit a fair bit. Hope we can connect some time.
Bummer about the weather changing just as you bought her. I'm still hoping to get out some more. Not pulling the boat out of the water until mid-nov.

Martin.

Thank you for the kind welcome! I have been visiting this site
Regularly and waiting for the day to get our own C-Dory. I
Have been looking at albums to get ideas for our boat.
Now I just have to figure out what to do first!

Yes, we will keep the name. My wife really likes it...go figure. :wink
Anything else you want to pass on about the boat?

Cheers!

Hi welcome to the C-Brats - a great group and a tremendous resource.
We will be cruising out of Nanaimo next summer, so may see you about. Blue Skies is in storage for the winter in Nanaimo so I also am in withdrawal. Happy boating!
Bill

Good for you! I'm still dreaming about my 22 Cruiser. I sure liked the looks of this one when it came up for sale. I think it might be the first one in town. Hopefully we wll cross wakes some day.

As much as I would like to get out, I am going to winterize the motors and tinker with it over the winter. First up will be putting in some LED bulbs, reroute some wiring and add a spreader light aft.
I am also thinking of putting in some Nuteak on the cabin floor.

Has anyone purchased or built a new dinette table?

Anyway, thanks for the replies and I look forward to seeing you on the water.

Cheers!

Welcome to the C-Dory world and the C-Brats. From your Brat neighbour in Campbell River.
We will see you out there sometime. Don't let a little thing like winter prevent you from enjoying your boat.
Cheers, :beer

Welcome!

I have a vacation home on Nelson Island, so I hope I'll see you in the area!

If you stop in at Valley Marine, tell Jeff Hi! for me.

Cheers!

John

It isn't a new table, just a customized one. Here is what we did to ours with photo tiles.

Then we decided we just don't need that big of a table because 99% of the time we're fishing.
It's easier to get up quickly and grab a rod when a fish hits with this small table I made.
Works for us.

That's the beauty of these boats...make 'em your own for your intended use.

The tables look great! I was thinking of doing something similar. I will take the old one out an us it as a template and use a solid wood with a few coats of lacquer. The tiles must make it fairly heavy?

Well, I rebuilt the dinette table out of maple with mahogany. It was a project I did with my 85 yr old Dad and it turned out pretty nice! Replaced the interior and anchor lights with LED's. I have interlocking tiles for the cockpit (not in yet), LED strip lights for under the gunwales.

I now have a list of about 18 things I want to get done before she goes in the water. Nothing really major, just replacing a few things that are worn.

This waiting for Spring is killing me! javascript:emoticon('')

Seeing the title to this thread reminds me of a long weekend three years ago in northern BC. It was when I met the original owners of " reel knotty ", my family and I were headed to quesnel lake one friday night and I got two flat tires on my trailer carrying my recently purchased 22 cruiser. I only had one spare so I was in a bit of a pinch, when a car pulled up behind me and two friendly folks emerged and offered their help, I can't recall their names now but after a ride into williams lake and a stop at the local tire store they brought me back to my crippled trailer with two new tires and a renewed hope of getting to our destination.
What was the chance that our help would come from another cdory owner!
The next day we met up on the lake and shared a laugh and a cold beer, thanking them again for their generosity.
It never fails to amaze me how the cbrats are always there for each other somehow, somewhere.
I hope you enjoy your new to you boat and may it open up a new world of exciting adventures for you!
