New Cabin Cruiser from Seaway Boats

In the March/April issue of Power Cruising Magazine there is a great article on different cabin cruisers. Listed in it is a new 25 footer from Seaway Boats. A very interesting looking boat with some nice qualities including a transom door, shoal keel, Armstrong bracket, fuel efficient, 37 gallons of water! and fully loaded for $100,000. Sounds like a lot of boat for the money with some new and interesting features.

Interesting. I think Bruce Perkins who is now with Ranger Tugs/Jeff Messmer & the Livingstons, and Bruce use to be with C-Dory when Jeff was at C-Dory.... has something to do with these boats. No real specs but words and pics on the site. Interesting to see the NMMA certification plates for some capabilities/capacities on the boat, and some other data. Last I looked at Seaway...I think they only had one or two hull types.... now look at the line up. Hummmm must be another one of those merger buy out gigs that often happen in the industry.

I'll take a look at these at the Portland Maine Boat Builders show in a couple of weeks if one it there.

Looks like the 25 coastal is a cross between the 25 C-Dory and the 246 Rosborough ...At this point i like it... but would like more information on room before placing my order.. keep your life jacket on ! tucker
 
if i had $100,000. cash, (financing a boat is like financing a mobile home)
i'd be looking at the "rosborough". haven't seen a better built boat. but, as i've stated before, $100,000. is a lot of money.
byrdman, haven't seen you post in a while, maybe you should spend less time counting your money and more time visiting here!

I financed a mobile home once.

Sold it for 150% of what I paid for it 30 months later...Was concerned about tornados though...

Deck & design
All Seaway Boats have state of the art construction using resin infusion. Hulls are hand-laid-up with solid fiberglass with no coring. Decks are cored with Nidacore honeycomb cell. The transom is cored with Penske Board 24-pound industrial foam. Stringers are foam cored. There is no wood in the structure of the boats. The hull-to-deck joint is thru bolted, and fiberglassed from the bow to the helm area, as well as chemically bonded with 3M 5200. Spray rails and quarter guards Keel runs about 2/3's of hull length Hard chines for stability Boat is on plane at under
10 mph Deep forefoot cuts thru waves Transom door Cockpit is 5' X 7'
Hulls run very flat at all speeds

Well, I'm feeling better every day. When 25' diesel cruisers are getting less mileage than Journey On, and we're talking about 25' cruisers that cost $100, 000, a C-25 begins to look like the best boat on the market.

Jeff , thanks for the info. I missed it somehow. its a nice looking boat IMHO. but the caldron is the best looking boat in this range. sure wish there was one near by to see . so far the closest I can find is a owner in vancouver. I may go there this summer to take a look.

it's good to hear, that you made a profit on a mobile home. that's generally not the case, and seldom, if ever on boats. years ago, interest on mobile homes were base upon the rule of 78. no longer the case today, however they, like boats typically deprecate rapidly during the first five years. not uncommon to fined oneself upside down. i've told my children many, many times, borrowed money is the easiest to spend. pull the money out of your pocket, and some how, one becomes more concerned for the value their purchasing.

Bill, you are right . a well equipped 25 C-Dory with a up graded head to a vac-flush, two tilt wheels , bow pulpit , windless anchor, aft steering , twin honda 90s , carpet, rear deck seat cushion and back rest,compass , a garman 2010 charplotter , marine radio, refrigerator,hot water heater, wallas stove,curtians and a tadem axle aluminum will cost one big one. keep your life jacket on! tucker
 
One of my friends sent a photo of his brother's boat. This is one that I have not heard of previously, but it appears to be pretty nice. Impressive down east lines...

I agree that is one pretty boat...unfortunately, it has one pretty price tag.

A 1999 is $185K. Not a bad deal for the type of boat, but not cheap.
