New C Brat

Hi. I am a new member to the C-Brat forum but have been reading it and researching C-Dorys for several years. It seems to be a great forum and a great group of people. I have had my sights set on a CD22 or 25, but it probably won't be until I retire. In the meantime I have a small pontoon boat which is great for smaller, freshwater lakes, but lately I have been thinking of getting a CD 16 so I can start exploring the Puget Sound and the San Juan's. I have only seen a few CD's from a distance but haven't had the chance to see them up close. I will visit the Seattle Boat Show and would like to make it to the Friday Harbor gathering and meet a few folks and see some boats up close.

Darrell,

We are a bunch of benign crazy people, but it's as good a group as you'll find anywhere. Welcome to the group, and good luck on your boat search.

Steve

Darrell,

Welcome! It is a great place to hang out.

It looks like you're from my neck of the woods. My boat is sort of torn apart in the midst of several projects, and it's a Venture 23 which you may not be interested in, but if you would like to see it up close and maybe go for a spin, send me a PM. I've got jury duty next week which might interfere for a day if I'm picked, and I will be out of town the week after that, but I'm sure we could work out a time if you're interested.

Welcome to the group. Good idea to attend the Friday Harbor gathering as it would be a great place to see a bunch of c-dory's in one place. One warning is that by going, you might end up with a boat much sooner than you think.

Glad to here you have been making use of the site. Lots to learn about the boats from this group and the Friday Harbor gathering is the best C-Dory "show" for any future owner. We will be there to meet you along with the rest of the NW gang and be happy to show you what the 19 Angler model looks like. We had a 25 as well and can answer questions about that larger model as well.

Greg

Welcome
As a new 16 owner myself, I can recommend the boat very highly. When I was "searching", I would check out everyone's photos for ideas. Things I would have done differently? Maybe gone to the Honda 50 instead of the 40. Waited on the Sunbrella top. It does get in the way of fishing. Now I am considering upgrading seats. Good luck, you will enjoy the boat.

the first rule of C-Dory club, always talk about C-Dorys.
if you show up to the gathering I guarantee you there will be no shortage of individuals inviting on their boats and giving you the grand tour

Welcome aboard -- fine place to meet great folks, learn about wonderful places to cruise, and share ideas about buying and modifying a C-Dory. Friday Harbor is a joyful gathering of interesting folks sharing a good time. Enjoy the whole gang in what some of us call the "pub."

The problem I experience with the Friday Harbor gathering and other gatherings is................there is not enough time. There are so many fun things to do, people to talk to, boats to see, you just can't fit it all in. Then when I go home I start muttering to myself about all the things I missed :(

I believe that. we haven't even been to a CBGT yet but when we stayed in Friday Harbor for a few nights last summer we met other C-Dory folks and found ourselves BS'sing for hours with strangers about how much we loved our boats and all the little trinkets on them ;)

Welcome to the C-Brats!
Hope you are close to that retirement because you will find "the one" sooner than you think. When you come to the Friday Harbor Get Together, you will have a great time and time will fly. Afterward you will be "hooked" if you aren't now.

There is a posting somewhere about the "12 steps to C-Dory Ownership." I'm sure someone can remember where it is.

Welcome!

Thank you to everyone for a warm welcome. I am looking forward to meeting you and checking out some boats.

I just noticed you are in Olympia too, there are some beautiful waters to cruise down there.

Welcome DarrellN, and enjoy. The PNW is a great place for C-Dory's and cruising. Lot's of great places and folks to, meet there. Starts in Seattle in a couple of weeks and goes through the rest of the year. See you around the PNW waters,

Harvey
