I've been looking for a docking station for my iPod to take boating and car camping, and found a deal (?) on a Bose portable docking station at Fry's. Wow, what great sound!!! It was a little over $40 off normal retail. I am not sure how long the battery will last between charges, but it should be OK. Like all Bose systems, the sound is very nice.

I looked $$$eek.gif$$$

Think I’ll fall back to pan B, 2 car speakers duck taped to an amp from JCW-cig cord attached. :thup

I didn't like the price either, but the sale price helped. the reason I went with a portable vs a car type stereo is that I can take it in the tent trailer and the camper.

I use an altec lansing inMotion iM310.
Can be had for a "song" I paid $49 at circuit city.
batteries last and last.. sounds great, BUT does not charge the ipod.
I use an IGo charger for that.
I use this system for any portable sound... hot tub at home to whitewater floats (in the tent). Easy tunage with AA power!!

I bought this Altec Lansing unit for Lori for Xmas (Shhh! Don't Tell!) We will see how well it works out -- got good reviews and does not take up much room.

We have Altec Lansing's inMotion 600 on the boat. The sound is great -- one of those "hard-to-believe" for the size and the money. Its price -- when we bought it last winter -- was significantly more than the other inMotion units and significantly less than the Bose. We use it in the berth -- especially as a powered speaker for watching movies on the laptop. We gave one as a gift to one of our sons. He loves it.

Regards to all,
Greg

I bought this unit for my trawler on the advice of some audio nerds. I posed the question....what is the best out there. Answer.... Bose. What's the 2nd best? Answer....Klipsch. One could debate that but nonetheless, this unit was significantly lower than the Bose. Small footprint fits nicely the dash. We use it to watch movies or listen to the radio via www.slacker.com.
