I don't know if this is the right place to post but I need a trailer for a 25' Cruiser. I have several calls into the local (5 hrs.) C Dory deaLer but haven't heard back from them. I'm looking for a Magic tilt (best). Venture 2682 (good) or equal (okay) in central Florida area.

I would look for a alum. trailer with bunks , tandem axcel with disc brakes and torsion suspension .

With that said you need to look at the different trailer mfg down here in florida . Many of the free marine magazines have trailer mfg in them . Also there are a few Marina's and boat yards that sell trailers there is also Craigs list and E-Bay if you just want a storage trailer but for a real road warrior you need the above spec's .
 
You are in trailer haven! There are dozens of trailer builders who can put together exactly what you may desire in a couple of days. Don't be set on a certain brand, thru the C Dory dealer!

I've called some local dealers w/o luck. I'll get back on Google and try again. Would you know any specific names I can call? Thanks!
 
We like our Float On made in Vero Beach just off Rt. 95. Get extra fender braces if you are a serious road warrior. We have Kodiak disc brakes with vented rotors and they have been great. Twenty thousand plus miles. They will probably refer you to a local dealer. They are currently pretty busy building new trailers. Might be dealing with some lead time.

I've requested a quote from Platinum Boat Trailers in Ocala. Should I spec disk brakes on one axle or two? I'll try Kodiak too.

Two is definitely best, and may be required by your state's vehicle code.

The manufacturer will know, but I'd get dual disk brakes anyway.

They're safer, will stop quicker, and will last longer, since the wear is spread out on two sets of pads and rotors.

Much easier to do it right now, rather than retrofit later!

And YES to the Kodiaks!

Florida state law is one set of brakes per axle. You have no choice. (That does not mean that some dealer might try and sell you a trailer with only one set of brakes.)

Kodiak brakes are better than Tie Down--and you definitely want disc brakes.

"Float on" has an excellent reputation in the boating community. Aluminum trailers are the norm in Florida.
 
Surprised to hear you say, "Magic Tilt (best)". I've had an aluminum Magic Tilt for less than 2 years and it's been nothing but problems -- to the tune of $900 worth of repairs. I hate it. Currently, the lights have a loose connection, again, and one of the loading guides recently fell off.
One night coming home with my wife we had a tire blow out because the boat can easily be loaded slightly onto the fender which bent down onto the tire. Let's just say that was not an easy tire to change. The license plate has fallen off and of course the license plate light doesn't work.
Magic Tilt is a piece of crap. Just my opinion. :evil:

New trailer is on order!!! :D
 
There is a trailer mfg near you it's Tarpon I haven't dealt with them but here is a number 800-453-8944. I think they refurbish 1 yr old trailers

I bought a 2009 Continental trailer with torsion axcels and disc brakes .There is a dealer on the west Coast that sell pretty close for dealer cost? I have to look up dealer
BTW Florida law any trailer over 3000lb must have brakes on all axcel's .Aluminum is the best way to keep weight down and the trailer looks new after many years .

They are less than an hour south of Flagler Beach.

They have been servicing my boat trailers for a number of years and do a great job. They also sell new boat trailers. I plan on purchasing a new one in the next 12 months from them.

Matt and I have had some discussions on pros and cons of the options you have available for a new trailer:
*Springs versus torsion axle.
*Ordering the trailer without lights and then installing Post Lights to keep the lights and connections out of the water.
*A new line of disc brakes available through DeeMaxx that he feels are superior to anything out there.
