Hey everyone, the wife and I are headed to Maui at the end of the month to scuba for two weeks and I was thinking of fishing. I have read lots of web sites and review until my head is spinning. Susan and I would like a trip for mahi? And other sport fish. Small tuna. We don’t need a sail fish or marlin but it would be nice as a bonus. our biggest desire is to handle as much of the gear as possible and not just be reel turners after the fish in hooked and set. Do you know any captains out there? has anyone fished with a good out fit or a bad one?.

Very clear waters...... Tom, Sorry... we did the snorkel trips...and no fishing trips on both trips to Hawaii. But....next trip and after following this... things may be different....

sounds like fun. I know nothing about this outfit other than what is on their web site. Unlike most HI charters, they let you keep you catch & they seem to have a good taste in boats

the last time we went to Maui, one of the kids islander, college, friends invited him over to the big island for several days of full on, intense fishing...the kid had a blast...lucky turd

Back in '94, I was working on the Big Island. One of the welders had a boat and took me out for some Ono fishing. We caught 4 nice ones.
Have fun when you go.

I have been calling around and looking at different types of charteres. My needs are to be as hands on as possiable and I like to use as light as gear as i can. just reeling in a fish with a big reel in the rod holder is not fishing to me. All the bigger boats would require a shared boat to get the cost down but then I am stuck on a boat with folks i might not like. I have been on a party boat with a drunk that kept throwing up over the side and yelling at people, but hey she was my first wife so what you going to do.

I called and talked to the guide with the tom cat and I think that he might be the way to go. small boat , just the two of us and light gear. hes on a trailer so he can launch out of several ramps around the island depending on the wind. i sure hope we catch some nice fish.

Tom, you'll love the TC255. Great to fish from and dive from.
