I have decided on a name for my boat. My wife's name is Petra and she is from Slovenia. Not many people in America have heard the name Petra and get confused on how to pronounce it. I tell them it sounds like petrified. Hence the name of my boat, Petrafied. I like a name that is unique and can be construed to mean different things. Some of the meanings that I have found are...

Modified for Petra. Upgraded to her liking. Up to Petra's standard.

At times boating has had me petrified with fear wondering to myself why I think this boating life is so enjoyable. I was Petrafied. These times are few and don't hold a candle to the good times. You guys know what I mean.

And being that I am married to her I feel as though I have been Petrafied.

If a C-Brat nerd is reading this, please record my new boat name in the photo section of my profile.

No nerd needed (right now, that is). Click on the button at the top of the page that says "profile" and change it yourself.

Congratulations, you have reached "apprentice nerd" status!

Petra (Greek "πέτρα" (petra), meaning rock; Arabic: البتراء, Al-Batrāʾ) is a historic and archaeological city in the Jordanian governorate of Ma'an.

A very ancient and honorable name. The Anglo (male) form is obviously Peter, which is my son's name.

Congratulations.

"First I was afraid...I was Petrified..."

Sorry...cool name.

Hey, I like it...and a good story behind the name.

That's is pretty cool! Fantastic name.

How does your album info look now, and does it all work for you? I renamed the album, put it in the proper alphabetical spot on the list, and reset the link in your profile.

Looks great! Thank You Tyboo.

I guess I am Pattified, but not so cool a name for a boat...

Well, just a coincidence, but I'm having lunch on Saturday with Martin Dubek and his daughter Petra. They are originally from Pesinok, Slovakia, so there are at least two Petras in America. Welcome to the C-Brats and enjoy that boat.

Good name, good reason, and good story even though you don't need any of those to name your boat what you want. I like that it is different too. Cool.

Sure beats Miss Behavin XXXVIII

IRLBoater,

Great name with an interesting background connection. Where are you located on the IRL?

Tad

Also Sanskrit "पत्थर" pronounced "pathar"...same meaning.
