255 Tomcat
Vessel Name
Meant to be
The former Kenmore firestation is for sale. 5 large bays, 3 with doors that look tall enough to get a Tomcat with radar in and 2 that should be fine for any other size C-Dory. Three bays also have rear doors so we could probably get two boats in each of the three bays. As long as I'm dreaming, we could probably convert the upstairs into a bar and maybe get Pat and David to open a branch of their brewery here. I also like the idea of being able to sleep upstairs prior to an early morning departure for a fishing trip and then sliding down the pole when the alarm clock goes off.

It's "only" $2.175M but if we split it many ways.....

Roger, I'd feel right at home there.... ..

I notice in the upper right corner of the "realty page" that Renton has one of their fire stations for sale as well. Hopefully, these stations have been replaced by other new ones in a more logistically suitable area and not because of the downsizing and short staffing of their departments. However there are a lot of Fire Departments in Washington State and elsewhere in the U. S. that are experiencing downsizing, brownouts, and layoffs. An unfortunate sign of the economic times and in some instances a threat to public safety.

Dave - Kenmore built a much larger and more beautiful fire station just a block away from the old one. It looks like a very nice building and from the shadows I see on the windows when I drive by at night, it's clear that the new facility has a gym. Given that you'd feel right at home there AND it's just about 1 mile from a boat launch, what percentage ownership do you want?

Not a bad thought, but since I'm already able to keep Sea Shift in a fully enclosed shop at our place I'll have to pass on the offer. We head South for 30 minutes and we are at the Everett Launch Ramp on the Puget Sound and head North one hour and we are at the launch ramp in Bellingham next to the San Juans.

This would be a great plan for greater Seattle urban dwellers with little space at home to keep their C-Dorys well protected and out of the weather. I'm sure that those Fire Apparatus Bays have drainage and hose bibs inside so the C-Dorys could be washed down after each use in the protection of the outside elements.....such as the snow that is predicted for tomorrow.

There is probably a kitchen and shower room in there too. Good idea Roger, maybe make it a non-profit, and a tax write-off. Could be a national historic building. you might be on to something.

Most definitely since it is a regular Firehouse. Only drawback will be if you decide to sleep there at night, you can very well expect that somebody is going to be laying hard on the doorbell at 0300 in the morning (thinking that it is still a working Fire Station) and when you hurry to the door to answer it you will find......take a choice....

A) Someone covered in blood saying they've "been stabbed multiple times and can you fix me up?".
B) Someone saying "my wife is in the car having a baby and needs your assistance".
C) Someone that is inebriated and lonely and just wants to talk with you.
D) All of the above.

(If it is your VERY LUCKY night "choice C" will be a knock out lovely young lady in a minidress with a plunging neckline who was just jilted by her boyfriend..... )

Not to add to the "cons" but, if the doors are 12ft, a TC 255 with radar on a 12" pedestal will NOT fit under it. I had to take my radome off the pedestal (4 bolts, no wire removal) to get it in. Other than that, count me in as long as you get another 217,499 more brats to sign up and my share is only Ten Bucks...

Dave-

The FIREFIGHTERS have a brand new, fancy-schmancy fire station in Kenmore complete w/ art work out front....while the Sheriff is closing the Kenmore precinct that has our only indoor gun range, which is also our only range in the north end of the county. Who needs to practice, right?
