My first full marathon...

You lost a toe nail? when parts start to fall off its time to stop. Congrats on the run and the weight lose. i have benn trying to loses weight all winter but I only lose 10 lbs and that it. never get below 210lbs. just need to work harder.

Congratulation, my Brother in-law Dawson who lives in Seattle probable ran in that race too.

Although his back has been giving him trouble lately, and he’s getting over two broken wrists from a bicycle crash 2 months ago, so he may have sat this one out.

Keeping the weight off is a tough go; I gave up on achieving sub 200lbs a long time ago. I workout at the gym 2 or 3 days a week and do taekwondo 2 nights a week. In the summer if I can pull myself away from the boat I do some mountain biking, which really gets me in shape. Started the taekwondo thing about 14 months ago and just recently got my black belt, as does the wife and kid; great for keeping you limber.

What’s next for you, a triathlon? Dawson has been doing them for a couple years, easier on the joints especially the knees.

Probably no triathlons in my near future. I can swim enough to stay alive but I'm definitely not a good swimmer. I can bike OK so a bike/run event might be fun but it would take a lot of work to get my swimming in shape and that requires that I go to a pool. The nice thing about running is you can pretty much do it anywhere with minimal gear.

I recently signed up for another marathon - the Edge-to-Edge race. It runs from Tofino to Uclulet and it's a good excuse to get over to the west side of Vancouver Island. Then I'm putting together a team for the Ragnar Relay - Blaine to Langley as that was a lot of fun last year. Other than that, probably a few half marathons and a 10k or two this year.

Pool????....for some reason I thought that you resided VERY near to a big lake....additionallly, swimming attire IS minimal gear....

(Just giving you a bad time Roger, you should be very proud of what you have accomplished.....I actually think that you could do a Triathalon...go for it.....there is one every year at Lake Stevens).

Keep up the good work! :thup

Once you do your first triathlon you'll see that swimming is no big deal. I signed up for my first IronMan without knowing how to swim. I'm not a fast swimmer, but I can swim a long ways slowly. The fun part of triathlons is the cross training - I'm addicted to running but love being forced to bike and swim.
