Mounting Bracket for Ipad2

Wondering what most are using for installing their IPad in their C-Dories?
I can get a Ram mount which was first designed for the I-Pad and now with a couple of spacers can be used for the Ipad2. What about a mount for something like an Ipad2 Otter box for more protection?
Thanks

We just ordered a ram mount from ram-mount.com. It attaches to a 1 inch rail. Not too pricey. Will ost a revue after it arrives.

Anyone have any suggestions for more protection than provided by the Ram mount ? I am impressed with the otter box for the IPhone. What about an otter box for the IPad2 and a mounting system for it?

We have the suction cup Ram mount for the iPad. So far, so good, it held tight for the entire trip to Princess Louisa and back and held through a fishing trip last weekend. Still, I'm a little worried that it will fall off the window someday.

Just received the ram mount mentioned above. I attached it to a 1" bar next to the helm in our tomcat. Very easy to do and the iPad fit very well. I believe that it will be easy to read when under way. I'll post more after some time on the water.

We took the tomcat out for a bit of fun today and used the ram mount for the iPad. All went well. Later in the day Rosario was a bit confused with 2-3 foot waves. We increased speed to about 25mph to smooth out the ride but still had some lumps. The ram mount worked well but the iPad screen did switch between portrait and landscape occassionally.

C - Ness;
Thanks for the update on the IPad Ram mount. Sounds like it secures the IPad, is the change in the boats center of gravity causing the IPad screen to rotate?

Yes the iPad is very secure. Screen rotation isn't a function of the ram mount failing to hold firmly. I'm very pleased with the mount and even more pleased with the navionics on the iPad. The screen is so much easier to read than our old raymarine unit. I positioned the mount so that we can use it for navigation and then rotate it so that we can watch a movie in the berth.

C-Ness,

Did you order the sleeveless mount or the type that holds the IPad in a sleeve or cover. I am curious about the holding ability of the unit that holds the IPad with a case already around it.

Andrew

We ordered the mount that does not hold the cover. When we ordered the mount we did not think about the cover but it works fine for us.

Just recently figured out that you can lock the I Pad view to prevent it from rotating from horizontal to vertical views during a bumpy ride.
