Mixing Kerosene and Diesel?

Have been using kerosene, thought we would switch to diesel. Have about half a tank of kerosene in it right now, no spare fuel, so time to buy some diesel. Any reason I should not top off the kerosene in the tank with diesel?

I did the same thing just last week. Kleenheat to #1 Diesel(stove oil). Was in PWS for the last 10 days, the Wallas ran Perfectly 24/7 for 10 days @1 gal per day. The only difference I noticed was a little wiff of different exhaust smell at initial start up. Have a good one!! :mrgreen: :beer
 
I have mixed kerosene/diesel/kleenheat in the webasto with no apparent ill effects.
 
Yeah, I thought it would probably be OK, just wanted to check if there was any reason anybody knew of why not...we'll be out somewhere not too far from Bellingham this next weekend, and unless there is a dramatic change in the weather, the Wallas will probably be running the majority of the time...when oh when is it going to warm up around here????
 
Amazing.......I was thinking last night of doing just that same thing....switching from keroscene to diesel in the wallas. You Brats have ALL the answers.
One more question......Do I just buy ordinary diesel from a gas station or is there a specific type to get?

It's Juneuary and never going to warm up. This morning on the History Channel, there's a program on the "Little Ice Age". Looks like we are getting a message.

I just bought the regular diesel at a local gas station.
 
My gawd Pat, don't do it! Mixing stuff that seems like it should be compatible is dangerous. I mixed vodka in my beer once and it caused all kinds of trouble.

I asked the Scan guy the which diesel question since I have both at home and he said the less stuff in it the better so use the ultra low stuff from the pump.
 
I mixed it with no ill effects...no effects at all in fact. The stove acted just like it always has. I am now running regular pump diesel in it now and it works fine.

Go to the Issaquah Grange and get "Off-Road" Diesel. Why pay the state Road taxes when you don't have to? :)
 
Well, the gas to get to / from Issy would probably outweigh the road tax on a gallon of diesel I can purchase up the street here in Snoqualmie by quite a bit!
