Miss our c-dory

So my worst fear came true, which is that I'd regret getting rid of our 22' cruiser.

We sold it when we moved across the country, and bought a real purpose built fish killer. A center console. It's bigger and faster, rides like a Cadillac in rough seas and is pretty much built for bringing home dinner. It's awesome on paper. Except that we hardly use it, and miss going out camping and fishing in our old boat.

I also had a small melanoma removed from my calf last winter, luckily in time before it was much more serious. But that does make me 2nd guess that love of the sunshine and reminisce about having all that sun protection inside of our cozy c-dory cabin.

I talked to the boss, and she said she didn't want to speak up, but was secretly missing our old c-dory as well. So I'll be putting the Parker up for sale and working my way back towards a C-dory. This time with A/C inside the cabin. Looking forward to it very much!

Geeze, we are in exactly the same position as you. Sold our 22' C-dory 2 years ago. Did not think we would miss boating as much as we do, but alas, we do. That is why we are actively shopping for another C- Dory now. But we decided we want a 25 fter this time. Good luck on your search

Exactly why I still have mine :) 8)

Just couldn't part with that part of my life, at least for a while. Besides, I like getting the comment, ...."Cute boat" .....

I'm thankful every day that I made most of my mistakes before getting a C-Dory. :)
While researching our Tomcat we looked at several other boats. The Tomcat had everything on our want list. I wish it had more deck space but that would likely come at the expense of less cabin space. It's as close to perfection as a boat can be for our needs.
If I ever win the lottery I wouldn't buy a bigger boat. I would just spend more time on the one I have.

Thanks guys! Live and learn its no big deal. Just glad we have the flexibility to get another. One of these days.

I specifically remember being told on here that what we had was perfect for exploring and cruising the islands, creeks and ICW down here. I'm stubborn and had to see it for myself!

We did the same Paul and did the day boating for about 2.5 years before we couldn't stand it anymore. Now we have the C-dory plus a small crabbing/fishing boat for less than full day water play. You learned about a different type of boating and a bit more about yourselves. That's a good thing.

neat and good news!

We bought a Parker 2320 instead of CC. It is great and offers a big cabin and cockpit space but would like to add a rooftop AC.

Great news Paul! Even though we've been thinking about moving up to something bigger (the operative word being thinking), it would be very difficult for me to sell C-Dancer. She's been the perfect boat for us.

Good luck in your search.

It is fun looking to!

Same thing happened to me.

I sold my 22 and bought another within 6 months!

Now I know to just keep it.

Just need one of those controllable drain valves. My RIB had that. Get it up on plane and open the valve. Water gone. (Just remember to close it before you slow down.)

EVERY boat is a compromise. When I would get out in Haro Strait and a 3 ft chop would cause me to slow down in the 23 Venture I would think about ripping home in those conditions and more, taking the 23 Boston Whaler Conquest airborne at 45 mph and laughing as she landed. When I think about all the complex systems and maintenance on the R25SC Ranger Tug we have now I miss the simplicity of the twin 60 Yamahas and the Wallas on the Venture. When I take a hot shower, make coffee and throw breakfast in the microwave on the tug at anchor I know I won't be going anywhere at 45mph that day. I'll just compromise.

Hate to say I warned you , but I warned you. Parker is a nice fishing boat only if you came back every night.

Is there a lot of places to camp out where you are now? I have a jaded opinion on camping in the south as all my camping in the part of the country was with a rifle , helmet and 50 pd pack for the Corps.

Same thing here. I sold my 22 cruiser and bought a Pompano 21 with a little Yanmar Diesel back in 2000' Ha, with in two years I bought a new 22 cruiser. There is no boat this size that has a better accommodations then the C-Dory in my opinion!
That was 15 years ago. My wife still jabs me about that now and then. She likes the C-Dory!
Thinking of putting the 22 up for sale now, too much work to keep it up to the high standard I am cursed to insist upon at my age. Hard decision.

I like a dummy sold my '07. Bought a 25ft NauticStar. Sold the NauticStar 5 months later and ordered a 2017 C-Dory. Glad I did all this however at I love my new boat!!!

Signed,

Dummy
