Mini Jacker Mounting Location

I have a Mini Jacker auxiliary motor mount.

I am trying to determine the best position to mount this.

How far off the main outboard should this be located?

I assume you are using the Mini Jacker for a kicker.

I mounted one of these for my 9.8 Tohatsu kicker port side. What I did was use a couple of big C-clamps to temporarily mount it, and then hung the kicker to check for clearances. I don’t think there is an all inclusive perfect location for one of these things, you just have figure out what works best for your setup. When using the C-clamps make sure you use a piece of wood on the inboard side of the transom so you don’t scratch things up and spread the pressure.

I managed to mount it with 4 bolts above the splash well, I didn’t want to deal with getting in behind the fuel tanks. I think the manufacture recommends 6 bolts but that’s only to insure the Mini Jacker supports the maximum recommended weight, my Tohatsu only weights 85 lbs. Also use large washers to distribute the pressure and don’t over tighten or you could hear a cracking noise..not good. Once I was sure the location worked I use copious amount of marine adhesive and whipped of the access with acetone.

I don't have trim tabs now but may want to install them in the future.
I keep reading how it is one of the best improvements for a CD-22.
I was shocked when I first heard my boat pound in the chop.
Thanks for the feedback.

I have the same set up as Peter and Jay. My 9.9 yamaha clears the port trim tab with about an inch and a half to spare. Mine was dealer installed, with motor in hand.
