On the Tom Cat we have a 7.5 amp (input--so it runs on the EU 1000) Galanz (made in....China--from Walmart). It is 17 3/4" wide and 11 inches deep--but there is another inch protrusion about 3" above the base.

There is a "Road Pro"-microwave, plus inverter--also in the low amp draw which is slightly smaller.

Generally the 550 to 600 watt mechanical dial units are the smallest and use the least power.

I'll look into those. Wattage isn't a concern to me, since I'll either be on shorepower or Honda 2k gen when using it. Size matters, since the spot I have for it is fairly small.

I found this from Tappan. Anybody have experience with this model?

Sharp make one called a Half Pint. It's 13 wide X 12 deep by 13 tall. I have one but haven't used it in the boat. It's 850 watts. I think I saw a picture of one in Flagolds album. It's a heavu little sucker but small footprint just taller than most.

Search on the web for Tappan or Contoure microwaves. They are marketed by Intercon out of Florida and sold by SailorSams and Swego.

The specs are there on the sites. Not cheap ones but under $125. Only like 10" tall. We just received a Contoure, real Stainless Steel one, today for a customer. The Admiral apparently decided to require Stainless. This one requires 1150 watts of power so you need a good size inverter. The Tappan uses like 850 watts. When I tried to order the Tappan I was informed that the black and silver were back ordered. Only white was available

I think shipping was free for orders over $100...

We have a Half-Pint, and have used it regularly for (10?) years with no problems. It takes longer to heat than a larger microwave.
