Our boat is moored near the Ballard Locks, and recently while installing shore power I saw an otter climb up onto the dock, walk all the way down to the end, and then plop back into the water.
The last 2 times I've taken the boat out there's been a big mess of crap on the edge of the dock and on my starboard lazarette. Using the power of the internets, I identified it as otter crap (it's dry and has a lot of crab shell parts in it). It's really making a mess of the old lazarette hatches (which I'm replacing soon) and staining plastic green and red.
I think it's cool that there's otter(s) hanging around, and I like wildlife, but I'd prefer to avoid having to clean the boat every time I use it. Any ideas for discouraging otter visits?
Also, what do people keep around the dock for periodic cleanup? Scrub brush on a pole, tub of water, dawn soap and a coiling hose with a sprayer?
