Martini R21 fuel filter

We recently acquired an 05 Martini 21 launch built by Ranger Tug?, in as new condition. Beautiful craft. It came with no papers and we are struggling to do right. It has a Yanmar YM30 diesel with very low hours. A dilemma is, it has only the egg size fuel filter on the engine near the fuel pump. No primary like a Racor that I can find, and no place to install one easily.
The old filter came out clean. and was replaced. I'm told it is OK to run as is. I am careful about clean fuel, but have always run a primary on other diesels.
Do I need a primary, and where do I put it?
I would greatly appreciate hearing from another Martini or R21 owner.

Ron,
I always run a diesel with good primary filters (in some like the 8.3 C series I have in my RV) I have 2 Primary filters in series.

The issue is not only clean fuel, but fuel which stands in the tank, and algae grows at the water(from condensation)/diesel interphase in the bottom of the tank. I add Startron (enzyme), and BioBar, as well as Sta-Bil for Diesel.

For my boat diesels I have always added a Racor, even if there were Frams in place. I think that your question is going to be answered on "Tug Nuts"
Which is owned by the same great folks who own the C Brat site.

Take care.

FYI Tugnuts and Da Nag parted ways early on .Bill set them up. Now Ranger Tugs owns/operates/controls the site .
There is a small Racor 110 series that Ranger Tugs now uses for their R 21 ECs . It can go right next to the tank , does not have to be in engine compartment . I am not sure of the configuration , or Id make a suggestion.
I like the Martini Launches . Congrats on finding one !

As far as I can tell, Bill is still the admin on the Tugnuts site but I believe it is "owned" by Ranger tugs. Regardless, it's a fine site and a fine community with GREAT factory support.

Apparently he hasn't changed that in the listings on the site. As the site itself still lists Bill. I don't log on much over there so I probably missed a thread about that a long time ago.
