Marketing C-Dory Boats

In another thread there was some discussion about how to effectively and economically market C-Dory boats. The discussion sort of began with a discussion about the Seattle boat show and the challenges both dealers and builders are having in keeping their product in front of the public while keeping expenses down.

Scott and I started talking about this and wondered whether a well done professional flyer would be an effective tool for us to provide to all the C-Brats. The idea would be that the Brats could keep a half dozen or dozen on board to hand out to those they encounter at the docks or launch ramps. It would include all the appropriate contact information and an invitation to give us a call to find out more about the boats and the owners group. We could even include a space for the Brat to include their contact information if they chose.

Again, we recognize the resource that we have with the C-Brats and this may be a good and cost effective way to bring more C-Brats into the C-Dory family. If anyone has any thoughts on this post them up. If I get a good response on this I will start working on it. Also, if anyone knows of someone who does nice work with such flyers, let me know.

Someone correctly made the comment the other day that we are not just selling boats.....the Brats are a big part of what we are promoting as well, so let me know what you think.

Jeff, I would be thrilled to keep a supply of "flyers" on board and supply them to interested parties that come around asking about the cute boat. (My wife would probably say, "just give 'em a flyer and lets get this cruise underway"....LOL  )

Jeff, I think that would be a great idea. I don't know if you remember but I talked to you about getting some material to hand out as we are out on the Mary Ellen, Somehow they did not ever get sent out. I understand that some requests are not a high priority when requested, but I for one would really enjoy having material to go along with the talk. In the past I have always carried C-dory material to hand out, but it's all gone. Thanks, Big Mac.

Ditto for Pat & Patty on Daydream. Honestly, we get approached by somebody every time we stop for gas or at a rest stop when we tow to Lake Powell. It would be great to be able to hand out a flyer.

I agree, like Pat when I pull into a gas station I am asked questions, but especially at the ramp. One thing I have thought about is on our boats it has the wrong factory location and phone #. I have thought about removing this decal and hace one with just C-Dory on it.

It would be a good idea. I always have people stop me at the dock asking about the boat. And not just once in a while , but every time I stay at a dock someone will walk up and ask about how the boat handles and they try to peer in the windows. I always offer a tour of the inside and they are always amazed at the comforts we have in such a small boat. I compare the 22's with vw camper vans and people seem to understand that. You can see a light come on when you put it in those terms.
Several of these people later bought boats.

I have also given rides to 5 people over the years. 4 of those bought Cdorys later on. Some , Jim, bought new boats at the boat show after getting a ride from me when the factory would not give rides. I bought my boat after a ride with Roger, after the factory salesman stood me up for a ride. Susan wanted to kill the guy and I should have let here.

If you are going to do a flyer a page on the c-brats would be good idea.

Great idea - we field many many inquires along the way. A flyer would actually make our job easier.

Jeff, I agree that a " a well done professional flyer would be an effective tool".
But also offer us a pdf file of the same and I'm sure that many of us will print up some copies to have aboard.

Like has been said numerous times already I can hardly leave the gas station from all the interest the boat gets and when afloat at the dock it's a full time job answering ?'s about the boat, a flyer would be a godsend :thup

Jeff,

Count us in, too! We are ALWAYS approached at rest areas (especially!), gas stops, ramps and so on. We have a "boat card" that we hand out that has our contact info and the C-Brats site.

Many times as we head back to the boat and are approached by someone with an obviously eager interest, Marcia will roll her eyes and say, "Okay have fun talking about the boat, but try to keep it reasonable. I have to be back to work a week from Monday!"

I would love to have some flyers! I am always being stopped at the gas staion, the ramp, anywhere I stop with Litl Tug. The 16s are just "cute". Took me a while to get over the word "cute" but they appeal to people. Hey, that is how I got hooked, talking to some guy on the Eastern Shore of MD that was towing a 19' Angler.

Count me in on this one. Great idea.

I like the idea. As you can see between the lines of these comments, having something like that would actually be a help so we can get the boats off the trailer and underway a little quicker.

Jeff,

Yes, count me in on the marketing, too. As others have said, I talk about the boat all the time and would love to hand out information.

It would be great if you included the C-Brat website information, too. Like so many others, I seemingly "lived on the website" soaking up as much information as I could. Now, being a C-Brat, I feel part of the family and know I can get tons of support and ideas at the touch of the keyboard.

Looking forward to marketing these great boats!

And, um, dealers. Master Marine handed me an old Fluid brochure a couple of months ago when I dropped by with my wife to show her what they had. <grin>

Seriously, how about a tri-fold with the front being a 1-page version of the new CBrats calendar, and the back being a spec sheet?

I have been an Ambassador for C-Dory since my first boat in 2002.
When asked I always direct the interested parties to this website.
As noted earlier, a trifold would be great. :thup :thup
