Love our boat!

Caught completely by surprise, we had one of those rare, beautiful, calm mostly sunny fall days on the sound yesterday. We had planned on merely moving C-Dancer around the corner to the boat launch to store on the trailer for the winter. The day was so surprisingly nice that we decided to go for an unplanned boat ride up to Edmonds, which is a half hour ride from Shilshole in good water conditions. And the water was nice. It was so great to run the boat again after 6 weeks or so. It reminded me why I love the boat so much. Caryn and I had a great lunch at Anthony's at the Edmonds Marina.

Truly one of the most enjoyable days we've spent on C-Dancer because it was such an unexpected treat. Did I already say "I love our boat?"

We agree that the odd nice day during the fall and winter is a great day to boat on Puget Sound. Some of our best days occur when it's cold out, the sky is clear and the sound is calm. Usually not too many boats competing for our space in the water. I winterize the holding tank and water tank but otherwise we continue to use the boat all year without too many adjustments for the weather. I guess the Wallas gets used a bit more.

I absolutely agree with you! Actually my favorite time for boating in the PNW begins now for all of the reasons you mentioned plus no crowding at launch ramps and the folks that are out on the water are experienced boaters and know what they are doing! To me a best day on Puget Sound (AKA Salish Sea) is when it is winter, bright and sunny and I can see the snow covered Olympics to the West, the snow covered Cascades to the East, the always snow covered Mt. Rainier to the South and the always snow covered Mt. Baker to the North.

Good land marks. Hardly ever get lost that way, right? Growing up along the Oregon Cascades, knowing every snow capped peak by name and navigating by where they are.

I too, had a great weekend on the water. Columbia River, Portland. Good to be afloat after a long dry spell.
