North, to Alaska, I'm goin' North, the rush is on!

I will be headed to Alaska via the Inside Passage.
Look out Greg, A new brat is comin to visit!

I'll be deporting Port Angeles the first week in June bound for Dall Island, tucked away in a sheltered and protected cove, we are just minutes away from legendary Cape Muzon.

The trip should take 5 - 9 days. I will be helping pilot the sport fishing boats to this remote fishing camp. I will be co-captaining a 28' boat. Once there I will be helping to set up the camp and fishing for a few days.

I have been looking forward to making this trip for most of my life. I can't begin to tell you all how much I am looking forward to it.

Greg, once the "Chores" are done I will be flying out of Ketchikan. Maybe I could come up and see you and Ma fer a day or three?

If things go good I should have plenty of time to wander around a bit.
Let me know what you think.

I'd like to hear from those of you that have made this trip. Tell me all about it.

What should I be on the look out for?
How can I best prepare myself?

I sure am looking forward to making the trip...

Holy-ka-moly!!:xseek Old Rayster gonna finally make it up! 8)

"PM" here me for more details, as this develops... :beer

Dude, I am stoked!

What should I expect the weather to be like in early June?

Where would I fly into if I am able to come visit?

Pretty excited. Been wanting to do this all my life....

:xlol

Yea, I am thinking about breaking down and getting the survival suit I have had my eye on.
I'll be ready but I hope to hear from others about their experiences making this trip.

Thanks in advance for everyone's input...

Congratulations on your upcoming trip! I can't really help you out on the voyage since the only time I have done this was on an Alaskan state ferry when they still ran into Seattle. I agree with you in that it is a dream of a lifetime voyage!!

Ray,

When I first started reading your posting, I was impressed thinking you were taking the Sea Lion all the way to Alaska! Then I see you're co-capt on a 28 footer. Even though you're not taking your boat it will still be a trip to remember! Have fun.

I looked at the CD22 Angler at the Portland Boat Show. Would have like to have bought it, but I'm still trying to convice the wife that I need a boat.

Ray: Looks like a great trip... Well, around Jun I may need a "boat job" somewhere doing something if not still traveling a bit...and after seeing and meeting so many of the NW owners at the factory gathering & boat show.... I am feeling the pull from the NW.. Would love to get up there in my TomCat.

Red: Brother, sorry you did not make the gathering.. I really wanted to meet you.. Congrats on your pics in the brochure. They are great, but your boat was "striped down" a bit from some other pics when you were "loaded up."

I spent several weeks skiffing around Prince of Wales Island in mid June. Expect rain but otherwise it is probably the best time of year for weather. We often get a week or two of sunshine in late May but things tend to get wetter as summer progresses.

The fish should be starting to come in though it can be a bit slow in June.
Hope you have some info on some good halibut holes.

Thanks for the replies.

I don't think the information gets any better as I am going to assist with the setting up of a remote, fly in fish camp  Part of my chores once we get the boats all up there and situated and get the docks in place will be to pre-fish the old haunts to help gather information for the customers who will start arriving as I am leaving :smilep . Ablosutely the trip of a life time I tell you.

Dare to dream my friends, because you may not get to live your dreams if you never have them.... :star :thup

You can say that again. I so need some on the water time.
Less than 30 days away now and it feels like months.

I have soooo many hoops to jump through but soon, very soon I will eb FREE!

I can not wait...

Any tips on where to stay in Ketchakan? I plan to be there on the 17th of June and would like to stay a couple days if I can afford it.
I haven't purchased my return ticket yet and need to firm up plans.
