Hi,
I just got my album and I noticed that some pictures seem to load and make it to the C-Brat site while others don't and i get the error message invalid image. Sometimes I see files getting compressed but now I noticed that the compression is turned off in the window that allows you to browse for the picture selection. All the pictures are from the same camera. I wanted to get some picture of a boat going thru the locks and a couple of trailer modifications loaded but no dice. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Dave-

Are all the files from that same camera the same size?

I know I have to reduce many of the files externally before I can load a lot of mine to load, as it will compress some a moderate amount, but not other really large detailed photos.

Joe,
Yes, they are from the same camera. The size on the pictures shows around 5 mega bites some a little more. I use the camera in an automatic mode. I guess I'll try to reduce the file sizes by reducing the pixels etc. Thanks Joe

Hi Dave - Sorry I didn't get back to your PM on this, but asking out loud on the boards is always better - first, because most of these folks know more about it than I do, and also because their answers help others, as well.

At 5 megs, the file size is most certainly the problem. Sometimes the larger pics will load, but most of the time not. It may be that something times out in the software at slower connection speeds - I don't know. But reducing the file size to under 1 meg makes them load fast. I'm not much into all the fancy pic editing stuff, so what I usually find the quickest is to email the large files to myself and use the automatic size reducton option. I have a fast internet connection, so it is pretty quick and simple.

Thanks for the replies
I use Picassa and emailed them to my self and saved them to my pictures and loaded individual pictures from there That seemed fix the file size problem. Could not figure how to reduce the file size any other way in Picassa. Thanks again all better now.

Resizing photos

When you resize a photo in Picasa, you're creating a new copy with an adjusted image resolution (pixel count) and with all photo edits applied. The original photo on your hard drive will never be altered.

You can resize your photos by exporting, emailing, or uploading your photos to Picasa Web Albums.

Resize by exporting
Exporting lets you resize your photos while controlling the JPEG compression (image quality) introduced by your applied photo edits. The result is newly resized copies of your photos, saved to any location on your hard drive. During the export process, you can adjust both the 'Image Size Options' and the 'Image Quality' settings in the 'Export to Folder' screen.

When selecting image size, choose the 'Resize to' option and adjust the size slider. The number of pixels you select with this slider determines the length or height of your photo (whichever is longer). The other dimension is determined automatically to maintain the aspect ratio of the photo.
Select the desired image quality for your photo using the 'Image Quality' drop-down menu:
Automatic: Preserves the original image quality
Normal: Balances quality and size
Maximum: Preserves fine detail for large file sizes
Minimum: Yields some quality loss for small file sizes
Custom: Enables you to select your own value
Resize by emailing
If you're sending photos by email, you may want to resize them in order to get under the attachment size limitation. To change the size of the photos you email from Picasa, please follow these steps:

In Picasa, click Tools > Options (Windows) or Picasa > Preferences (Mac).
Select the Email tab.
Use the slider to set your desired pixel size when emailing multiple photos. Use the radio buttons to set the desired pixel size for emailing single photos.
Click OK.
Resize by uploading to Picasa Web Albums
If you're sharing a large number of photos, you may not want to upload all of the photos at their original size. When you upload images from Picasa, you can choose the upload size using the 'Size to upload' drop-down menu or else you can set your preferred default size for photo uploads.

Brent,
Thanks for taking the time to post that info on Picassa. I have used it in it's simplist form for years. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to computers and digital photography. I simply emailed the pictures that would not load to myself using gmail and then saved them individually in my pictures and then hit the browse button found the picture and magically they loaded on to the C-Brat site. This is such a great site. Thanks to all.

I re-sized the pics down and they worked.
