Live wells?

Been looking for a 19-22 foot fishing boat for the Oregon coast. Seems like every day I have a different opinion as to what I want to focus on for this fishing machine I'm after.

I really like the look of a C dory and the fact that it's easily trailerable and economical.

I've convinced myself that a 19 foot boat would suit me fine since most of my fishing will be alone or with one or maybe two others.

My question is one of live wells. I'm not opposed to buying a new boat and the C dory website...well sucks since there are no detailed actual pictures of the vessels. I see on the 22 Angler that it talks about a live well as an option but where is it? Also it doesn't mention a live well option on the 19 angler could that be correct? I figured by being called an "angler" the manufacturer would at least have an option for a live well.

Is there a live well on the 19 angler or not? Thanks for your help

Why not give the factory a call? Or one of the dealer who advertise on this site usuallyu shown on the upper right. I know sometimes livewells went into a rear lazarette compartment. I'm sure a dealer could add a livewell system at the drop of a hat. The current builder of the C-Dory line have a long history of selling serious fishing boats in a number of different brands. Ask for Scott he sometimes will post on this forum. Ask Scott about a factory installed option for a live well. You might also consider a 22' Angler money well spent IMHO.

Here is the factory's phone number (360) 393-3283 there is a link to the factories website down on the left of the C-Brat home page. Browsing the PFD for a 19' angler shows no livewell std or optional but money talks. The 22' Angler's PDF shows a livewell standard.

Since you are considering buying new, give Ryan at SportcraftMarina in Portland a call. Explain to him what your concerns and needs are. They are a long-time C-Dory dealer. I'm sure he would be glad to help in any way. 877-662-9965.

The port lazzarette is usually what folks will use. Our boat was set up this way when we bought it. The original owner installed a pump and seacock for it, which I took out since I don't use live bait. I installed a second battery and inverter in there. Pics of the old livewell are here in our Projects album.

Also, if you want to fish 3 guys, I'd be looking at a 22 instead of a 19.

Chris. would be great to see some pictures of your Angler in your album, especially a broadside view of your boat sitting on your trailer. Tug

I have a small 8 gal live well on my 16 ft CD cruiser. I created a sturdy shelf in the engine well on teach side of the outboard. The port side has a factory swim platform and ladder. I put the bait tank on the shelf in the motor well on that side. I originally put it on the swim platform which is not good. The swim platform is a critical life saving feature if you fall overboard. You don;t want it blocked. You don't want to lean to see into it. When not fishing, I can remove the bait tank. The level shelf makes it safer to enter and exit the boat via the swim step. On the starboard side, I have an ice box cube on that shelf. That works well. It has built in cup holders and a little compartment with a lid in the hinged top that can hold stuff.

Bait tanks that sit on the deck and rise to waist level are standard in SoCal fishing boats. The cruisers don't have the cockpit space to make that practical. You'll be better off with a 22 ft angler model.
