Limited time edit

I just found out that the "limited time edit" has been set to 30 minutes.

Not sure if this is intentional. I know some lists have that "feature"--but I just discovered a mis-spelling (not unusual)--and wanted to correct it. In the past, I thought we could edit at any time.

Thanks.

In the past there were not over 2000 posts with nothing more than "..." in the body. Bill and I invested a great deal of time trying to clean up what used to be such a tidy little place. We are genuinely sorry for the inconvenience to all the trusted members. The next mod I am asking Bill to set up will be the ability to remove oneself from the membership list.

I was gone for a week. What made Dog On Dory so Doggone Mad?

Maybe he's upset about the small boat forum, hull truth attitude that seems to be pervading the Home for C-Dory People :(

Thanks for the explaination! And again--thanks for the hard work it takes to run the forum. It is truely a great forum and very well run.

Now I suppose we will have a contest to see who can do the most "Edits" in 30 minutes.
Obviously I have too much time on my hands, as do many others. Or maybe the head office took off the number of edits counter.

Thanks IT guys for a good job. I didnt know about the timeout and can live with typos b/c it does not change heart of the message. I need something to tell me that I left out words.

Great Job Mike and Bill. I was dismayed to see things I have read many times disappearing. We need to preserve the history, even the things that were sometimes controversial. Much of what was removed was relevant to things we do all the time, too bad.

Maybe we need a button to vote folks off the "island"? Like Survivors. BTW, have never seen anymore than an ad for that show!!

On second thought, let's keep 'em all. Even Sneaks! :P

I've been wrong before, but I thought the only ones that could remove a post were the original author or those with admin capability.

They didn't remove them, they just went back and edited a lot of them to read "....." Pretty inconsiderate I'd say. Now we've got a bunch of "holes" in our history. Almost as bad as a hole in the ozone layer, not that we have any of those...

You still can't remove it if someone has read it (then the "x") goes away but you CAN edit it, now for only 30 minutes..
