Lewiston Lake, CA

Awhile back I asked if any one had information on Lewiston Lake as our family was going for a reunion there, and Joe was kind enough to give me lots to think about. We had our reunion on Labor Day weekend and had a great time.
The lake was beautiful, it has a few shallow spots but they were well marked. Very few boats were there. I think one reason is due to the 10 mile an hour regulation. We saw lots of large trout, and were given lots of information from the locals, but had no luck catching any with our group. The lake is very cold and not for the faint hearted for swimming even the youngsters only wanted to dip a toe in. We stayed at the Mary Smith campgrounds, very clean, flush toilets, running water however no showers. Mary Smith has about 18 sites so not crowded at all. Some of the sites were on the lake so we were able to beach our boats there. We also rented two small boats for day use from the Pine Cove Marina, for the rest of our group to use.
I really appreciated the information on the winding pass from Redding over the Buckhorn Summit, it wasn’t a problem but it was nice to know what to expect, as we haven’t hauled Pooch on many steep winding roads.
We visited the fish hatchery and old Lewiston, also went to Weaverville. I will post a few pictures. Thanks again Joe.
