Leave trailer bunk strap openings open?

I have the TomCat trailer where the bunk boards move out to leave room for the straps of a Travel Lift, etc..

Is it OK to trail the boat very far with those slots open?

Or, should a person jack the hull up and close the slots after the boat is in place?

Any advice or thoughts appreciated!

I didn't know they moved, but in any case I trailered the Lori Ann from Anacortes to Lake Powell and back with them open and all is fine.

thanks, Warren... the ppl at the marina repositioned them, so I don't even know what the original position was. It looks like the boat is well supported at this point.
