Ran across this 1961 film showing activities during the first four years of construction of the Glen Canyon Dam. I had never seen it before. Thought it might be of interest to those of you who have been to Lake Powell or anyone who might be going there for the first time.

Great film, Bill. My first geology job was to map Glen Canyon while the dam was being built -- brought back a ton of memories. Thanks

Bill one of my best memories of Powell is that trip with you giving a teaching lesson on before it was made into a lake.... the Geology of the place... it was wonderful...you must have been a great teacher... I felt like I should have gotten 3 units for that cruise... Thanks

My former father in law ran the aggregate plants for two or three dams on the Columbia, as well as similar jobs, various places in the West, Australia. And what surprised me in the video was the huge variability in the aggregate, including some fist sized cobbles, fully rounded with no angular edges. And it looked very dirty, even after thorough washing. I think Don would not have been happy.
