Sydney, Tula :dog Pat and I are going to head south on Tuesday. Will be at Katherine Landing on Thursday by noon. (retired you know) Been gittin ready all morning. I'll be ready to go by the weekend. Snow showers over Donner Summit might slow us down a day or so. Have to pick a window
See ya Thursday :D

Yep...figure 83 Dollar would be a good spot...close to Katherine...and a real nice little cove. If something doesn't keep us at Katherine...that's where we will be.

Looks like we may not make it to Lake Mojave - a family medical appointment that will probably hold us here in Colorado. Disappointed, but must keep to priorities. Have a great time - we'll be with you folks in spirit.

El and Bill, so sorry to hear you're not going to make it. Not sure who feels worse, us or you guys knowing how much you enjoy the area. Medical issues are by far the priority, we'll keep you in our spirits!

So, how do I find where this $83 cove is located, anyone have a map they can post?

I really hope to make this still, but for the person who asked for a count due to food, please nix me, as I may finally be getting a permanent slip on the ocean.... Finally, my ocean front condo!

As always, even a bad economy can have plusses. i.e., slips finally available for C-Dory sized boats in SoCal and accompanying price reductions!

If this opportunity comes to fruition, I will be at the ocean then, if not, I hope to see you all there.

I will have my kayak atop my boat also Joel. You can see how I mount it and use it also.

Jeff

I have been watching the weather...and it looks like it should be in the high 60's to low 70's and sunny all the while we are there.....

BUT it sure is coming down hard now... I just got drenched going outside just to move my car...yeow ! California needs water...and we are getting some today.....

STEVE .... in Tahoe you must be in a whiteout ?? You got ski's fer that 19'?? Hopefully you can get off the mountain on Tuesday ...once you get into Nevada it should not be so bad... and nice at Lake Mohave..they should get some rain out of this storm but it will be all gone by the time we get there...

Thanks Roger and Roy, now I have no EXCUSE for not finding $83 cove!

Now I'm trying to determine the best route to trailer from Hwy 40. Mapquest seems to favor taking 391 N through Bullhead City. Last time I went thru Bullhead, maybe 15 yrs ago, I swore I'd never do THAT again -- and that was w/o towing.

Is that the best route, maybe BH city isn't so bad this time of year?

Tee Ten is packed and ready to head down to Mohave. :thup As of Saturday morning we haven't had much snow. :? Not sure where the storm track is going. My route will be down 395 if weather permits.
We'll be there Thursday if not sooner. :D

Down here in Carson City this morning looks like you can just slide down Hwy 50 - -saving gas for the uphill portions of 395. 8>))

In Carson City NV until June

Steve,

I always take 40 to the GOFFS exit which takes you on a 'route 66-ish' two lane style road east to the 95. Then take the 95 N to 163 E and head down to Laughlin.
It is very clear on any map.

Many people take this road and I find it a pleasant bypass.

163 will take you straight into Laughlin and the bridge over the CO river.
Steep drive down into Laughlin on the 163 though, if that is a negative to you.

If my directions aren't clear, just write back.

Jeff

p.s. Don't get gas at the Goff exit; they are sickly expensive! And, the AZ side of the river usually has cheaper gas than the NV side.

Those Devils at the Weather Bureau now have decided to give us clouds and some chance of rain...darn em... not that it would change anything for us....rain er shine we are going to be there....

Are we still going to have da Pot Luck ? What night ?? it kinda looks like those Devils are sayingt it' a gonna be chilly...

I am still bringing my fishing pole...and Rox has her Party shirt packed..

Jeff,
Thanks for your route. My parents (mom only now) live in Kingman, AZ, that's the route I always took to meet them in Laughlin (except for the Route 66 tour -- which I'll have to try).

Joel,
I'm with you, what's a little H2O -- a free fresh water rinse I say! Hey, maybe this trip you'll come on over during one of our "movie nights" and see how my Wallas 1300 heater works...

Looking forward, starting "serious" packing and prep today, won't have much time during the workweek. Planning to leave just after dawn on Thursday morning to arrive mid-afternoon.

Well....the boat is packed, the truck is packed. Pat is ironing  the dogs know something is up and are standing on my toes. :amgry I am sooo ready to hit the road. But...don't need to be at Mohave till Thurs.
Going to drive 95 to Las Vagas. No sense in washing the boat if I'll be towing through blizzards. I'll wash it in Vagas. 395 might need chains. :thdown I'm bringing a couple of tritips, salad and my Cobb to pitch in at the pot luck. Which is what night :?:
Drive carefully,

Well, this has sure been a disappointing last few hours of the weekend. Been packing the boat, checking the engines, tires, etc. Then I noticed the left rear tire was flat, big surprise since I just had the boat out 2 weeks ago and the tires are only 8 months old.

Pulled the tire, found a rusty roofing nail in the tread, will take it in to be fixed in the morning, no problem. Then I looked at the rotor on that wheel, wow, last check it was just a little rusty, this time the plating surface is 1/3 gone on both sides, all that's left is the base iron in those areas. And to add to that, my nearly new ceramic brake pads are 2/3rds gone due to the rotor situation. I will order 4 wheels of SS rotors and new pads tomorrow, but is not a quick turnaround to get the parts or put them on. Plus, last check a few years ago, Pacific Trailer would not sell me SS rotors, said they warp. But other mfr's sell them and report they work just fine. So we'll see if I have to go to another vendor for them.

There are a few mild hills (3,000 ft) on this trip, but I'm leery of a 600-700 mile trip to risk possibly more damage to the disc braking parts, like the calipers (after it eats through the pads...).

Soooooo, it's not looking good for me and my boat.

Hey Roy, do you still need a buddy to keep your dog company?

Steve,
Like we talked about on the phone, I'd enjoy your company. Let me know how your details work out. What ever you decide, Don't miss this trip. If you get the parts on time, drag the boat down here and I'll help swap em out or just get yourself here and we'll go on my boat.
Waitingto hear from you.

Roy, so, how do you like your eggs and coffee in the morning?

Thanks so much for the offer, I'll go (pending no further catastrophy's in the next 72 hours that is), it'll be fun, looking forward.

Weather outlook looks nearly same as yesterday except for 30% chance showers on Sunday also, temps same.
