kuuma Stow N Go Marine Barbecue Gas Grill

We are looking for a gas barbecue to mount on our new 22 ft. C Dory Cruiser. Has anyone any experience using the Kuuma Stow N Go Gas Grill? It is 24" W x 12.5" H x 10.5" deep, with 145 sq. inches of cooking surface and made of good quality stainless steel throughout. It can be mounted on a rail or a pole holder. What do you think of this barbecue? Thanks.

do not buy it, it is cheap, just cheap,

mine was a pile of crap and I just left it on the side of the logging road...

you've been warned.

We don't have any experience with the Kuuma grill, so don't know how well it's constructed (or not).

A few years ago we purchased a similar grill, the "Magma Trailmate."

Magma is a major manufacturer of marine grills. There is probably not a sailboat anywhere that doesn't have one of their (round) kettle grills.

We wanted something smaller, and George Hone (who used to manage a large WM store in Nanaimo) referred me to the downsized Magma "Trailmate."

It works very well and doesn't take-up too much space. The 1#propane cylinders seem to last forever. The 9"x12" grilling surface is rather small but you adjust to it. I wish it had a thermometer in the hood - but I guess you can't have everything.

After about four or five uses the control valve broke, and we played hell getting Magma to replace it under the warranty; but they finally came through. Now ... to protect the gas valve, I trimmed a beer 'coolie cup and to fit over the valve (which I leave in place on the propane cylinder but removed from the grill).

Cleaning it is a bit of a pain, but I've committed to cleaning it every couple of years (or so...). :-)

Best,
Casey&Mary

Not sure if you can get Napoleon Products south of the border but they make a really solid portable grill that can mount on a post a rail or a trailer hitch. They sell up here in Canada for around 300 bucks....pretty nice unit

I was thinking you wanted a BBQ that you could mount to your boat rail or similar. If you just want a portable bbq you can use on your boat take a look at the Weber Q series of portables....they are absolutely the best small BBQ you can find. I doubt you could rail mount one but maybe someone could rig something up

We bought a Dickinson Spitfire grill. We also bought a easily added or removable griddle plate for doing eggs etc. Pictured It always lights you can buy a number of different mounting configurations. More pics in our album. More expensive than others. We use both on the boat and land based picnic tables.

I like my Magma Trailmate BBQ, perfect for two people. Also has the fold up legs if I want to put it on a dockside picnic table. Doesn't take up much room. I keep it in a cardboard box in the storage locker under the port forward seat. Pics are in my album under mods. I have not figured out how to transfer pics from my album to this post yet :?

Martin.
