Klean Heat - Bulk Purchase????

Hey there Brats,

After I saw the last online price of Klean heat I contacted Barr, the manufacturer to see if there was a way to do a direct purchase, and what the minimum order would be. I received a response today that it was possible, and that it would be 70 cases, which is 280 gallons. I do not have a price yet, but should have one soon. BTW, the online price was $11.99. Home Depot was just under $10, and who knows where the price is going.

Here's the question. Given that the price is acceptable, and shipping is reasonable would the CBrats like to band together and do a direct purchase. If 28 of us took 10 gallons each, we would have it made. Logistics is probably going to be a nightmare, but I think we could pull it off if we had a couple of Brats in key locations to do the distribution. My assumption is that this would be a PNW activity, but perhaps people in the NE would do the same. We could also see if they will split a shipment.

What do you think? Is this worth pursuing any further, or should we let the idea die a proud but painless death.

I'm definitely interested, assuming the Kleen Heet is delivered in 1-gallon containers. If it is in bulk then I would have a problem.

Roger,

There was a thread a while back on Klean Heat, and if I remember correctly, someone offered that it did not breakdown over time. I don't know if that is true or not, but I could ask Barr Co.

When you figure that it has nothing to interact with in the sealed container, I don't have a hard time believing that it stays fresh for a really long time.
I just fill my stove at the gas station. It is easier.....

I bought two gallons when my boat was delivered in 2004. The Wallas hasn't been used much and just last week started to take much longer to heat properly so I emptied the on board storage "tank" into my truck tank, refilled from the still sealed second gallon and after a few minutes all was well again. That tells me Kleanheat is good at least 3 years if kept sealed.
