I'm on my third kicker lock (salt water) and just picked up what I'm sure will be the last. This one is all Stainless.

I've had two Master padlocks in the past two years and I'm disappointed with both. My issue is salt water gets into the mechanism so it becomes impossible to get the key all the way into the keyhole let alone turn the key. I'm wondering whether this lock's keyhole is capped so salt water can't get in?
If not, I may just stick with the Master padlocks. At least at the end of the season I can cut off the lock with a Dremel. :cry

No, it's not capped. I'm going to apply a Self Adhesive Bumper(as in drawers)to seal it up. I too have the Master Lock and salt water always finds its way under the plastic covering. This new lock is stainless. It's a thing of beauty really. Robust yet attractive. For $80.00(regularly $100) it should be.

I have gone through several dozen of the steel plastic coated (and several other) outboard locks. The brass locks seem to hold up fairly well, if you keep them lubed--but the steel rusts. Plus many small outboards have such small handles, that you can slip the lock off. Also it takes about 5 minutes to cut these locks off with a hack saw (if you loose the key--as I have)--actually you don't have to cut all of the way thru, just part way, and bend with Vise grips.

I'll have to look at these at West Marine--and see what the Port Supply price is...if it is equal to the on line price--thanks!
