I just finished building a rack for my cd 25 that lets me carrying three kayaks. I used eight pieces of composite decking ( fake wood decking) each piece about 5 inches long and 6 inches high. I bought two 6 foot pieces of 2 in square aluminum.
From here I cut out a 2 in by 2 in slot in the composite for the aluminum to sit in then clamped two pieces together and drilled a 7/8 hole through the center creating half a hole on each piece of composite. Then I drilled four holes two above the hand rail cut-out and two below it and then bolted it with 2 inch stainless steel carriage bolts around the hand rail on the cabin top.Once it was in place I used some special composite deck screws and screwed through the composite and into the aluminum (pre-drilled) locking it all in place. I wrapped the aluminum with some high density foam and it looks pretty good and cost me less then a $100.
