Wonder what kind of explosive they used and how much?

This is what was said in the article:

“The trials use thousands of pounds of explosives, detonated in close proximity, to confirm that warships can continue to meet mission requirements under harsh conditions they might encounter in battle.”

“The FSST testing is done in accordance with Office of the Chief of Naval Operations Instruction 9072.2, and as mandated by the National Defense Authorization Act of 2016.”

looked like c4. I got to pop off a few of these Mine clearing rocket kits 3000 lbs of c4 if I remember. Rocket flies off dragging the long white bag over a mine field. After it lands you fire that puppy off and you have cleared a 100 yard wide 400? yard long path for your infantry and tanks. I got to dig a hole and fill it with a few old ones and three 5 ton trucks of morters, bombs, small arms and other assorted goodies. makes one hell of a hole.

Not very specific is it.

You are right, but digging around in this might turn up something:

"The FSST testing is done in accordance with Office of the Chief of Naval Operations Instruction 9072.2, and as mandated by the National Defense Authorization Act of 2016."
