Just got my new Lowrance HDS 7 with Structure Scan....

Haven't tried the structure scan but would definitely be interested in seeing screen shots when you have it installed. I need to decide if it makes sense to add structure scan to my HDS-8.

I am also very interested in the performance of this unit. when I read the lowrance web site there are lots of screen shots but most are in shallow water, but none is deep water for salmon. Please post screen shots when you get into 100 ft of water. How does bait show up? bottom fish.? salmon?

We've installed one of these units recently, but didn't get a chance to play with it. The SS tranducer is big and sticks out behind the boat quite a ways and placment on some boats can be tricky.

I'd like to see images in salt water at 100 feet or more to see whether this is a worthwhile upgrade.

Hi, Here is a video of a local puget sound guide that is a rep for the HDS depth finders. He showes the setting he uses to best fish the sound for salmon. Very interesting to me that he uses a freshwater setting for salmonin the salt because it gives better performance. If you have this unit this is a good start to understanding howto set it up.

Hey congrats I have this unit on my 20' rib and I LOVE it.
I do a ton of diving and we can really see the structure very well. It takes some getting used to. I Have the best tranducers and that was money well spent. I can mark structure at 20 mph on the sonar then circle back to the mark on the chart and NAIL the rock fish at 200'. I bet you will love it.
