Interlocking teak tiles

Those almost look like drideck with a teak top. Nice to know this is out there and almost makes me want to re-do the cockpit.

HI All,

I pulled the trigger on these tiles that Roger found on Amazon. Easy install, and they look much better than the dridek mat I had down. The teak slats seem to be good quality, and are very lightly oiled. They should fade nice with the sun. Whole project cost under $250.00.

Nice looking! How are they attached to the plastic underlay? One of the issues with Teak is that it is a very oily wood, and some glues do not adhere well. Epoxy (and I think G Flex by West) would problem be the best, if there is an issue, with slats coming loose.

They snap together like dridek. Screws hold the woods slats on. I have not secured them to the floor, I left them floating so the first mate can peel them back and run the wet vac underneath. I was out In a rough chop the other day, and the tiles were wet. I had good traction underneath with the sneakers. Seems like a decent product, time will tell.

You're more than welcome. For my boat (mostly used for fishing), they're "too nice" but I thought others might like them. They look great! Here's a larger version of the image for others to view.

So if I am understanding correctly, one order comes with 10 , 12X12" tiles? Wanting to do the inside only of my 22. Hoping one order would take care of that. I don't like the idea of having to buy 20 tiles when I will only use 12 for this project.

The cockpit on a 22 measures approximately 4’6” long x 5’9” wide. If you look at the set up on reelchef, he's got about 4 1/2 tiles fore to aft and probably 5+ tiles port to starboard. 10 tiles will only get you two rows that run port to star board and less than half the cockpit will be tiled. 20 tiles will get most of the cockpit tiled but I think if you want to fully cover the floor of the cockpit, you will be into at least 2.5 boxes of 10, maybe a bit more. At $80/box, 3 boxes is about the $250 mentioned above for the cockpit floor of another 22.

You will need 12 tiles for the inside floor, not including under the table or the captains foot rest.
For the deck it took exactly 3 boxes to do my configuration , with some scrap left over. You also need some stainless screws to re-attach the cut tiles to the matting, and a small drill bit to pre drill the teak planks you cut. I also used a Dremel to cut off the exposed black connecting nibs that were not needed .
Each box of tiles weighs 18 lbs.
