If you shoot at the police...they shoot back.

i live on the island and keep my 22 in Eagle Harbor Marina. Had returned from a day out in the sound and left the marina around 630 pm. The first alert from the PD arrived at 830pm so the incident had started a bit before.

It took till 1 am before the situation was resolved. Based on what we could listen to on public / un-encrypted scanner frequencies they were not in contact with the guy - and in my opinion, still weren't sure which of the boats he was on. I don't know how many shots were fired before night fall but there was a long period of time (more than an hour, i think) when no shots were fired and the police were putting their plan in to action.

As well as the King County helo (Guardian One), Seattle SWAT and Kitsap County Sheriff responded as well as Bainbridge Police and Fire Dept, of course.

A shame that he forced the use of deadly force. Amazing that no one else was injured and that there has been no reports of property damage.

Listening to the scanner on Saturday night was a trip. This incident was just one of two or three requiring tactical response in the area and it (seemed) super busy. Weirdly enough this was the 2nd time in 30 days that a SWAT team has been on Bainbridge to deal with a suspect with a gun. Listening to the situation unfold and play-out gave me a new level of respect for the humans who choose to put their lives on the line.

I went down to Eagle Harbor Marina on Sunday to check on the boat secretly hoping to find a bullet-hole in the engine because i need/want a new one; morbid humor, i know. But no innocents were injured and i haven't heard of property damage. Amazing.

Law enforcement officers deal with the worst of our species.

Any rational person, given a choice, does not want to enter their world.

Aye.

Again, Mark, Thank you and your fellow LEO's for being out there and taking that risk. You all deserve way more respect than you get, and the laws are making it way to easy for the "bad guy" to get away with anything.

Glad there were no others injured or damage done, and sorry for the officer involved. It is happening way to often.
