I just had a great time!

Today, 6/9/05, I picked up my CD16 cruiser. The dealer had it all washed and shiny. Everything I ordered was on it. I bought it at a dealer in Oakland. The dealer asked if I would like to take her out in the bay estuary. Sure, I replied. He was one of the wrenches named Jay. Jay really new his stuff. I had never actually been on the 16 in the water. What a joy. She handled great. I cannot express the feeling of confidence being inside the cabin gives you. (I will not become overconfident, that can kill you) The pounding some talk about is not as bad as I expected. Even the little cabin did not seem so small. I realize this really is a two person boat. You know, I feel happy. It rides super, keeps you dry and comfortable and more than anything, you know you'll be OK in it. I had a great time with Jay talking about CD's and boating in general. He gave me some great tips. This was what getting a boat from a dealer is all about. So if you live on the Delta in East Contra Costa County, California, look for the guy in the little 16 named Poodie with a great big grin on his face. It'll be me. Rob :smiled

I have been lurking for about a year and a half and finally joined for Da Nag's run to 1000.
I am envious of your new boat. After seeing the boats and reading the posts here and on the other board, I am planning on getting a little 16 cruiser. I have been looking at other boats trying to find a cheaper substitute, but for the type of boating I want to do, nothing else comes close. I spend about one day every other month out on our boat, so I don't plan to buy my C-Dory until I have more time to spare. I will retire in a few years. After following Chuck S posts, and your pleasure in getting your new boat , I just had to say something. That is a day I am really looking forward to.

Rob,
Congrats on the new CD16!

Your are in my neck of the woods. I live in Brentwood. I don't always keep my boat here but I do have it at the house now. I just got my CD22 last August.

Did you get your boat from The Outboard Shop (SeaPower)? They are the dealers now. I will be going there soon to get the parts for the 100 hr maintance for my motor.

I would like to see your boat sometime. If you would like to buddy boat around the Delta let me know.

Rob, I know the feeling. I like how you described your boat's ride and cabin. It really is bigger than it looks, and cruises beautifully. Sweet little machine. Keep us posted on your discoveries, as your joy makes for fun reading and has inspired guys thinking about the 16.
