As long as this thread has wandered a bit from the original topic...

Joyce and I were wandering the Seattle boat show last Saturday and (as always) took the opportunity to visit the C-Dory display. About 15-20mins after viewing the TomCat, Joyce started talking about how if we combined our mortgage and a home equity loan (that we took for a massive remodel) back into a single mortgage, the difference in the monthly payments would allow us to buy a TomCat. She then mentioned that she really liked that boat and could see spending more time on a boat that large, etc...

My first thought was "Who are you and what have you done to my wife?", but fortunately, I resisted that. Anyway, a larger boat may be in future but I don't think anytime in the immediate future. I want to get the boy through college first. But who knows what could happen at the next boat show.....

Roger, when the Admiral gives the go-ahead, why wait for the next boat show?
But who knows what could happen at the next boat show.....
Besides, I want first dibs on the fishing trip in Neah Bay on the new TC255. :wink

I dont have enough years to have a record in this crowd thatswhy I went first. dusty, if your out there command does not equel ownership. That should shorten his list a little. maybe down to two pages.

I checked the 15 to 20 year box. That's true for total C-Dory ownership.

15 years with a 22 Angler, 1983
1 1/2 years with a TC24, 2003
over 1 year with the present TC255, 2006

22' C-Dory
16' Kauffler drift boat
13' Canoe
3-8' sailing dinghys, ya thats right, 3 dinghys
8' Bombard inflatable dinghy.
8' Sevalor pool toy, former dinghy.

Thats just what I currently own. If you want to talk about boats of the past, pull up a chair and get comfortable.

ps: anyone interested in an 8' sailing dink?

Man does not live on one boat alone...
3 C-Dory boats...which aint all bad for a short guy down in the southeast corners.

NOW... WHY I BOUGHT A C-DORY IS NOT BECAUSE THEY WERE NEW...BUT BECAUSE A LOT OF THEM WERE OLD...AND JUST AS STRONG, STURDY, SEAWORTHY, AND SAFE AS A NEW ONE....

I truly hope the folks at the factory do not loose that fact.

I bought a new Bayliner, which was a great boat and not a single thing broke on it in the entire 18 months I owned it. Notice the 18 months. Not sure I would buy a 1984 Bayliner, Maximum, Sea Ray...or other blow-n-go boats. Why did I buy it??? Well.. my wife said...."why don't you just buy that blue water version trophy boat and shut up about not having a boat.??"""" Well... I always try to make her happy when I can.

Now... LOOKING BACK A FEW POST.... If wife had the funds figured out... and she was telling me to buy a new TC255.... I bet she could also teach a son to find his own way to pay for college  The National Guard worked for me...! Sorry... could not pass that one up.

Since we are talking about boats owned, I'll add my list! I currently own eight (most are small, and all but the last purchased used!)...

2 kayaks
1 12' Porta-bote (almost 20 years old)
2 Sunfish sailboats (plus spare parts)
1 13' Peep Hen sailboat
1 22' C-Dory (the biggest and best!)
1 inflatable kayak (which I gave my wife for Christmas!)

Most of these boats, including the C-Dory, we keep at our cottage on L. Ontario. The Peep Hen is a nice sailboat, but since I got the C-Dory I have not used it enough to justify continued ownership.
