How Do You Remove Bomar Hatch Doors?

I know it can be done, I watched the mechanic at Secret Cove pop the door out so he could work more easily on the recalcitrant fuel filter...then he popped it back in. No matter how I try, I cannot get the sucker out. Anybody know the trick?

Ours may not be the same, but by removing the 2 screws holding each hinge the door is easily removed leaving the frame in place.

And you guys thought id be a smart aleck and say something about enlisting "an Alaskan womans help".

You don't know me as well as you think.

On mine, I the hinge is simply the plastic of the lid wrapping around a steel rod. Hence the hatch cover can be removed by just lifting on that edge (or popping it off with a good thump of a fist. I know mine have occasionally come loose when I've tried to close them while something was obstructing the lid so perhaps putting a dowel rod (or similar object) near the hinge and closing the lid would apply the pressure necessary to pop it off.

But, if that doesn't work, find an Alaskan woman to help.

Roger wins...I put a screwdriver shaft halfway between the hinges and lifted the door - popped her right off.

Whew, dodged a bullet on that one, no Alaskan women or children anywhere nearby to help anyway!

How time flies! I first asked this question in 2008! Had completely forgotten the answer, Googled it, and the first hit was my own question answered on C-Brats! Amazing!
